The Manager, Enemy of the Karen

Starlight wasn't out long, maybe twenty minutes before rousing from her sleep with a low groan, twisting her neck as her eyes saw you standing there.

"Sorry, I guess I didn't do too well huh?" She muttered down trodden.

"Not amazing, that's true," You affirmed with a soft smile. "But no one ever does, none of The Seven have beaten me yet, not even Homelander." You added as Star's head snapped up, staring you down, as if trying to find some lie in your words.

"But... how?" She finally said, already climbing to her feet.

"You didn't think about it earlier, I assume?" You answered her question with another question before holding up a finger. "Hold on, did you want something to drink?" You asked, holding out a glass of water as Starlight hesitantly took the glass, lightly sipping from it.

Right in front of her eyes, you poured yourself a second glass, a touch turning it a dark color with fizzing bubbles, Starlight's eyes locked on it and then her own glass.

"What did I miss?" She summed up succinctly.

"Firstly, I told you I was basically the team manager, responsible for keeping The Seven in line, forcibly if need be. That requires me to be stronger than them, sometimes multiples of them, you were never going to beat me, my position requires me to be able to way above your level. Secondly, my powers are a necessity for that." You explained, running a finger over the nearby table as it seemed to twist and shift before a bed took its place, pillow, covers, everything.

Seeing that Starlight was still reeling, you continued, "My powers give me control over matter at a fundamental level, I can change it from one thing to another," You held up your glass, the liquid inside changing colors, "I can turn this into water, wine, soda, or oil, "You flipped the glass upside down, the once liquid inside staying in place, "I can even turn it into something non-liquid, like Jello." You fixed your drink, letting it settle back into soda.

"But, if you're really that powerful, then why haven't I, haven't anyone heard of you, you should be on the Seven, hell, you should be leading The Seven!" Starlight shouted emphatically.

You didn't answer her for a few seconds. "I'm not one for the public consumption." You finally muttered, running a hand through your hair, leaving golden streaks. "Homelander looks better on camera, and he's Vought's golden boy, he's the leader, I'm just the manager, albeit the manager of The Seven." You added, and we're actually surprised when Starlight came over to pat you on the back.

"Hey, you're more than just the manager, you're also my friend." Star said.

You let the moment rest for a few seconds longer before moving away.

"Well, I think that about covers everything, go on home, and try to stay out of trouble, I would appreciate having fewer messes to clean up around here." You muttered as Starlight left with a nod in the affirmative.

You internally wondered when she would noticed that she wasn't wearing her costume anymore, but rather a comfortable shirt and pair of sweats.

Walking over to the wall, you ran your hand over it, turning the stone into glass, giving you a perfect overlook of the city as your eyes roamed around before settling into the distance. At this moment, assuming you remembered things correctly, Transparent was both kicking Hughie and Butcher's asses, as well as getting his ass fried via cable. It would've been easy to handle the situation, had he came to you with information, but you knew, The Seven didn't trust you, they gave you the modicum of respect they did because you could turn them into paste, literally, if your whims blew that way.

You internally wondered if they could properly grasp the expanse of your powers as your eyes settled on your arm, as it slowly vanished, a devious smile on your face.
