A Moment with Liam

Running from that disaster, I slid into Liam’s car.

“How did it go?” I’d told him when I had planned when I asked if he could be my ride.

“Horribly,” I said, sinking into the seat. “Now I know why they tell you never to stick your neck out.” Liam laughed, making a chopping motion with his hand. “Yep.”

“Ah, well. You win some and you lose some.”

Covering my face with my hands, I groaned loudly. I wanted to disappear. Now I had both the sight of Paige with those guys and my conversation with William burned forever in my mind. Dropping my hands, I took a deep breath and looked over at Liam. “I need something to take my mind of things. You get your test results back yet?”

“Got the call forty minutes ago. They left a message.”

I straightened in my chair. “And?”

“Don’t I get a drum roll?”

Rolling my eyes, I tapped my hands against the dashboard.

“C!” He didn’t look as happy as I thought he would be. “It stands for Condoms Forever.”

Him and me both. “Sure, but you can have kids though.”

“I guess, but condoms get expensive. Not to mention they told me I’m practically disqualified from a lot of PPD programs because of my extended illnesses. So… basically I’m a D-rank who has to wear condoms.” He sighed. “But I finally know. No more stressing out over that shit.”

I don’t know why I was suddenly reminded now, but since I was with Liam, this was the perfect time to ask him about the gym. “I don’t mean to shift gears away so quickly, but before I forget, which gym do you use?”

“It’s a small one by Burger Queen. Why?”

“Kaylee’s dad is wanting to get back into working out and I was thinking I could give it a shot too.”

Liam quirked an eyebrow at me. “This wouldn’t happen to have anything to do with a certain blond about yay high with a penchant for fit and athletic guys would it?” he asked, positioning his hand to the general height Kaylee would reach on him.

“Pfft. No. I just want to spend more time with my best friend.” His expression didn’t move as he stared at me. “Okay. Maybe a little,” I said pinching my thumb and index finger together. “I’m not looking to get ripped or anything, but I figure it wouldn’t hurt to work out some.”

“Not going to lie, I would love to have a gym buddy. I just don’t want you to be doing this because of Kaylee.”

“I’m not. Not entirely at least. I have other motivations for why I want to do this.”

He nodded. “Okay. Want to stop by and check it out then?”

“Sure.”
