They leave her, believing she's finished

Sirens in the distance, no doubt on their way to put out the raging fire far across the street. "Just leave her; she's finished, there's no coming back from this", says Jetpack. Reluctantly, Big releases his tentacles, leaving Teen Girl speared on the enormous metal pole.

Teen Girl has no idea how much time has passed. She's dimly aware that some degree of strength is returning to her legs. She begins a slow, further agonizing experience of using her legs to push herself off the metal pole, the enormous thing sliding out of her bit by bit. She collapses to the ground, crawling away, faintly recognizing approaching authorities, she crawls into a sewage pipe inch by pain filled inch to escape their view.

She doesn't know how she got here - she's stumbling around some dark alley, and collapses near the back of it. She covers her shivering body with cardboard boxes. From sheer exhaustion, she finally falls asleep.
