Adam threw his black trenchcoat into the corner as he and Ashley approached each other. The holsters on his belt, now devoid of weaponry, were strapped tightly to his tree bark-patterned camo pants. Naked above the waist except for dogtags and fingerless gloves, diagonal black stripes decorated his face. The duo never broke eye contact as the bell rang.

"Well, c'mon, GI Jerkoff, let's see what ya got," Ashley remarked, a wise-ass smile on her face. The soldier didn't even respond to the insult as he threw two quick jabs towards Massaro's face, followed by a roundhouse kick. The punk girl dodged the punches, and managed to drive an elbow into Adam's leg as it swung around. Throwing him off balance, Shadow Ape quickly rolled to the side, regaining his stance.

"Goddam, soldier-boy, you're pretty good!"

"I oughtta be, after 15 years o' this stuff, luv," Adam remarked. Not even bothering to budge from his current stance, he allowed the blond to get a couple of quick attacks to his upper body, in order to get a quick assessment of her talents.

The wisdom of his various instructors and commanders kept coursing through his thoughts. It was important to win the fight, to be certain, but more importantly, visualizing the victory in advance was even more important.
