Chapter 49 by Ben Rosewood Ben Rosewood

What's next?

Escape Plan

The next day, I came home from a hard day at work. On the couch, I saw Megan sitting with another woman. She's slight and wore a turtleneck, glasses, and a resting bitch face, which was much more conservative than the short shorts and tank top Megan was wearing. I don't exactly recognize her but I get a feeling that Megan had mentioned her before. Megan smiled upon seeing me and said "Hey Mike. Have a good day at work?"

"Sure did."

"So, this is Susan."

"Hi." The other girl said.

I faked a smile at Susan. "How's it going?"

"Good."

"Anything interesting happen at college today?"

"Well, Susan and I did a petition." Megan said.

I raised an eyebrow. "What for?"

"To get more women in the governing board of the college." Susan interjected.

I try my best not to roll my eyes. "You get many people to sign?"

"Eh, we didn't do too bad." Megan said.

Susan's judgmental gaze shifted to Megan. "Should've got more. It's ridiculous. I mean, the board has had at minimum a 4 to 1 male to female ratio ever since its inception."

Fuck. I gotta get outta here before I have to put up with Susan's feminist rantings.

"Well, at least we're making progress." Megan said.

"Not enough if you ask me."

With my arms crossed, I said "I uh, think that's enough politics for tonight."

Megan nodded. "Yeah I agree. In fact, I think I better get dinner on."

"That'd be great honey, especially seeing as some of the boys from the office want to go out for drinks tonight."

"What's the occassion?"

"It's a uh... office thing, you know?"

After a shrug, Megan said "Well Susan and I were planning on studying together, so that should work out perfectly."

"Great. How about I help you out with dinner?" I figured that should shut Susan up for a second or so.

"That'd be great Mike."

The two of us quickly knock something up for dinner, before devouring it. Susan didn't really seem to have anything else to say, much to my relief. In fact, I don't think she got a word in before I got into my car, ready for a night out on the town. The only problem was, I had to figure out where to go.

Where does Mike actually go?
