Awkward morning with Matt

The following morning, Mark woke up to see Matt back in the room, still fast asleep on his bed.

He had barely seen him over the last few weeks with the amount of work shifts he was getting at the Strip club. The toll of this on his mind and body was probably much more that he ever would have expected. Matt’s already downward results in class continued to worsen. He was tired almost all the time, he barely had even had any action with Cassidy, even after she had found out the truth of what he was actually doing.

For Mark, it was great for him because it meant less time that they would actually spend together, meaning less guilt.

After getting up and having some breakfast, Mark came back to gather his things for the first class of the day. Walking back inside his dorm room, he was surprised that Matt was now awake.

Standing up by his desk, Matt was quickly looking at something on his laptop. “What’s happening man,” he said as Mark entered.

“Uh not much, just had some breakfast, that’s all,” he said.

Matt stepped away from the desk and went back to chill on top of his bed. He had already changed into some casual clothes for the day.

“We really need to do something together soon man, maybe happy hour. It would be my shout, I’ve got a fair bit saved up already from work,” Matt said.

The offer only just made Mark feel more anxious and guilty but he didn’t want to let Matt in on how he felt so he played it cool, “Yeah I’m always up for Happy Hour.”

“Sweet, later this week perhaps, you, me and Cas. You can bring that Winter chick along too if you really want,” Matt said.

He couldn’t think of anything more awkward than being at a bar with just Matt and Cassidy but if he could take Winter with him too, maybe it wouldn’t be so bad.

“Uhh yeah, I can probably ask Winter if she’s interested,” Mark said, gathering his stuff for his first class, keen to leave as quick as he could.

“Cool, cool,” Matt replied, “I’d be locking her away as quick as I could man, for those big titties alone but to have a personality to match makes her one of a kind.”

It made him think about this more, who and when would Mark choose to settle down with. He didn’t want to miss the opportunity but he also wasn’t quite ready to do so with plenty of girls left that he was dying to sleep with.

Before Mark could really reply, Matt’s phone began to vibrate on the bed side table. Picking it up, he began to chat with whoever was on the other side of the phone.

His face quickly began to drop, as if he had just heard and found out some terrible news. Obviously quite a concern when he was hiding a big secret from him.

Mark stood there awkwardly, the palms of his hands began to sweat, his legs were beginning to tremble.

“Fuck fuck fuck,” ran through Mark’s mind.

He stood there quietly looking at Matt’s shocked and upset face. When he put down the phone, he looked up and Mark and said something.

“You fucked Cassidy, you’re going to die,”

Mark’s mind was about to explode, his thoughts all over the place. Holy shit, Matt knows his secret and his going to kill him. He didn’t know if he really heard that as it was or anything.

“What?? Uhhh what did you just say?” Mark said in a panicked tone.

“I said... That was mom, my dog just died.”

In a very awkward yet surprisingly relieving moment for Mark, he began to calm himself. He wasn’t sure how or why he misheard him so badly, it had to be a true sign of guilt.

Realising that he should probably give his condolences, Mark began to speak again, “So sorry to hear that man, I know you were close with him.”

Matt nodded and quietly laid back down on his bed.

When Mark was able to leave for his class, he couldn’t help but feel more guilty. If things didn’t go well with Jess, there was a big chance that she would let Matt in on the biggest secret he had ever had to keep.
