Chapter 8 by ThekNight ThekNight

What now?

Abandon Ship!

An explosion jolted the ship triggering the crew into action. Everyone went to their stations and Beas asked for a tactical analysis.

“All decks reporting Intruders repelled captain!” Eller cried out.

“ That last salvo hit the engines Captain, I’m trying to ascertain the extent of the damage.” Chief Roh said while having to switch stations.

“Helm is the FTL Drive online?” Beas asked Giana.

“No captain, I’m not even sure if we have impulse.” Giana replied

Things sounded bad enough to you but they only got worse after another missile hit the hull of the Prometheus.

“Hull breach on decks three and four, captain” someone called out.

“Captain, the engine core is losing containment; I calculate it will go critical in less than five minutes!” Roh exclaimed.

“Comm, give the order to abandon ship. Helm, turn the escape pods online” said The Captain.

Most of crew seemed stunned for a second but quickly recovered. A rush was made for the pods at the back of the bridge as everyone left their stations, following their captains’ orders. Beas and Giana lingered, making some last minute adjustments. You decided to stay as well and make sure Beas was actually going to abandon ship instead of doing something foolish.

It appeared foolishness was exactly on the Captains’ mind as she shrugged off Giana’s hand as she tried to nudge her away from the console.

“You have” the captain began but the console she was using overloaded and sent plastic and sparks flying. The Captain was knocked to the ground and in this case that was probably a good thing as you and Giana led the dazed Captain to the last remaining escape pod.

Giana and The Captain went up to the cockpit closing the door behind them as you stayed back in the pods small cabin. You heard the bulkhead release and the sound to the thrusters sending you hurtling from Prometheus.

Can this situation get worse?
