Chapter 11 by tantrikenetic
How do you respond?
It Was Nothing.
"Bah." You say, trying to wave off her compliments before your face goes red. "It was nothing you wouldn't have done for me." Your mind is reeling from her words. She thought you were bad ass. You have a vision of a cheesy action-movie poster: you holding a sawed-off shotgun and chainsaw, muscles bulging out and ripping your shirt open, with Melody kneeling on the ground in a skimpy outfit, wrapped around your leg and looking up at you.
"Oh, you and your stupid modesty." Melody sighs. "Seriously, you need to cut that out. What you did back in that bar was extraordinary. All of it. I owe you big time."
"And I say you don't." You reply, sitting up a little straighter. "Don't you get it? I wanted to help you. I wanted to defend you."
"I don't think YOU get it, Jack." Your redheaded friend crosses her arms under her breasts. "You took some serious physical damage for me and you can't expect me to just gloss over it. You say you wanted to defend me? Well, I want to do something for you to show you how much it meant to me."
"God, you're stubborn." You sigh, shaking your head.
"I learned from years of friendship with an equally stubborn idiot." She says, rubbing her hand on the top of your head. "Now, I want you to think about what I can do for you." She said. "Sky's the limit."
"Hmmm..." You mutter, scratching your chin. This was definitely an interesting turn of events. Sky's the limit, huh? maybe you should take advantage of Melody's sudden outburst if goodwill.
Any ideas on what you would like her to do?
