have another trip down memory lane

You're on your way to gym class. It's been a few weeks since the valentine's incident. You pass Angela and her friends but you don't even dare to look at her. In a few weeks time your reputation in school changed from loser into gay loser. Of course you're not gay. You don't hold any grudges to people who are but you just don't like guys. You like girls, specifically Angela. Yet convincing your surroundings for the past few weeks about that has resulted in nothing but fruitless attempts. The fact you're too scared to confess your love to Angela doesn't help your story either. Whenever people ask who the letter was for instead you can't say more then that's none of your business.

You arrive at the changing rooms and as you enter all the guys inside stare at you. They're uncomfortable to be around you, almost as if they're scared that you want to do naughty things to them. You sighed and start changing. The guys around you all back off a little. Their behaviour truly angers you but you let it slide. Your mother told you everything will be alright in the end, just give it some time. People will change their view of you in time.

The other guys in the room make sure to change as fast as they can so they are out of the room with you as fast as possible. The only exception seems to be Billy. In fact it almost seems as if he's stalling. You remember how he actually tried to kiss you with some encouragement from Angela. He keeps glancing your way but hasn't said anything to you since that horrible day.

''Mike, we need to talk.'' Billy says after it's just the two of you in the dressing room.

''Look Billy, that letter wasn't meant for you.'' You start to explain.

''I know.'' Billy says dead serious. ''I've seen how you look at her. I get it really. Angela is a very pretty girl.''

''Wait, you know about my crush on Angela? How!?'' you interrupt.

''It's pretty obvious really.'' Billy giggles. ''You got this look in your eyes whenever you see her. It's the same way that... I look at you.''

It takes a while for those words to sink in. ''Wait are you saying that you...''

''Yes Mike, I love you. I've always have but you never saw me. You only had eyes for her.'' Right at the moment Billy confesses his love to you the school bully enters the room.

''The teacher asked me to come check up on-'' You see his face turn from shock into an evil grimace as he hears Billy's love confession.

You wake up. That was your second worst memory of high school. The bully made sure that the rest of your high school days would be utter hell. Billy met the same fate as you. Although he did get some support from Angela. Something that got you a little jealous but you didn't envy the guy. After all both of you had it rough. In the end Billy couldn't handle it and transfered to a different high school. You never heard of him again.

Well that was then, this is now. I'm in a better place now. You think to yourself. But I've gotta get some sleep. Tomorrow will be a busy day. I have to make sure I'm well rested.
