Off to Paradise

Chapter 31 by Supercali50 Supercali50

Matt spent his evening telling all the women in his life that he would be gone for a while.

“I have a lot to think about. I need to be alone for a while” was the lie he came up with.

Abigail thought it was reasonable. As far as she knew he was very conflicted. She wished him luck and made a soft case to come back wanting to be with her.

Lucy didn’t know what the hell he could be struggling with that he’d have to run off for a few days. Why hadn't he said anything before?

Emily found it suspicious, but she didn’t know enough about his situation to call him out.

Anna understood and said she’d miss him. She offered several nudes to help him feel better, he just had to ask.

Melanie tried to leave him on read but wished him luck after a few minutes.

Lucy and her friends went wild in the group chat. Anna and Melanie pretended they didn’t hear about Matt’s news at the same time Lucy did.

It was a busy evening for Matt, despite just laying in bed and sometimes tossing a shirt into a bag. Eventually he had a bag packed, just time time to run out of energy to have five emotional conversations at once. He didn’t consciously choose to go to bed, eventually he just fell asleep.

Xyxxor was hovering with his legs crossed when Matt woke up.

“Shit!” Matt exclaimed, “Thanks for the warning!”

“You were tired,” the wizard said, “and you need all your energy for the upcoming activities.”

Matt rolled his eyes and sighed. “Sure, sure.”

“Are you ready?” The man asked, extending his hand and offering a folder to the teen. “Inside is your reservation details. Are you ready to go?”

“That’s it? No other helpful details?”

“Check the folder, mister Matt. Anyway, I think it is time.”

“Time? But I’m not even—“

A flash and Matt wasn’t in his bedroom any longer. He whirled in shock as the Caribbean humidity hit him first, followed by a very pleasant ocean breeze.

“—even ready!” Matt finished his sentence. “Oh... great.”

—

The only word to describe the place was beautiful. The resort was incredible. Matt couldn’t begin to imagine what it would cost to stay here. This wasn’t a family sort of resort with kids running all over the place and grandparents sitting by the pool. No, this resort was for the wealthy. Salt and pepper haired men walked around with stunning women and there were a surprising number of tuxedo and sunglass clad dudes who had to be security guards.

Matt got checked in, easily the youngest person around, though some of the arm candy looked to be about his age. He found his room easily enough, surprised to find that the main building didn’t have any rooms. He had to navigate a series of paths to find his own detached bungalow and, of course, the interior was fabulous.

It was a suite, decorated like a resort room, though much more expensive. The back patio opened to a large swimming area and the beach was visible between the bungalows on the other side. Matt finally opened up his folder and didn’t find much. There was a note wishing him luck and a map of the resort that was much worse than the one he was given at the front desk. The last piece of paper was a list of Marsella’s favorite places to hang out with another list of the few places he could expect not to alert her husband to his intentions.

The weight of his task settled on him when he read a quick note about the dangers of Marsella’s husband. He looked out the back window. The sky was blue and eternal, untouched by clouds, and the water looked warm and inviting. Matt glanced at the list again, and saw some times were estimated. It wasn’t anything special, just little things like “often here in afternoons” or “morning sunbathe here” which was helpful but not terribly specific. Marsella would apparently be poolside at a different pool on the other side of the resort. Okay, that wouldn’t be a bad place to start, although...

Matt looked back out at the pool. Maybe he should warm up and try and meet someone nearby first. It couldn’t hurt, right?

Matt surveyed the pool, first, to see if it was worth it. There were only a handful of people so far, typical for this early in the morning, mostly in chairs or just dangling feet in the water. He caught eyes, for only a moment, with a very attractive girl with sun kissed skin. She looked to be alone enough, maybe he could try his luck? Although, he really should stay on task and find Marsella...
