Chapter 9
by Blenghis
Who is this mysterious figure?
The search begins!
The siblings stood in suspense for a few moments, before the silence was broken by the whistling of the wind. In unison the pair turned towards each other, and confirmed with each other "We need to find them". After a few minutes debating when and where to meet up next, they decided on lunchtime on the roof due to its privacy. Checking his watch, Nathan let his sister know that he had his first class in six minutes.
On the way there, he took a moment to contemplate as he walked. How would they even go about finding this person. Ignoring that they could rule out half of the schools population on account of them being male, this mystery girl had a power that allowed her to disappear into thin air! Come to think of it, they didn't even know what her power was. If he was a betting man (which he was) then he would put money on it being teleportation or invisibility. They could attempt to profile people based on their height and hair length but that would have to be on a case by case basis. Afterall, it's not like there is a database they can just sort through with this information on. Unless...
He tucked that train of thought away for later as he approached his english class and got seated in his usual spot. God this would be a drag, he groaned. It's not like he didn't enjoy english, it was actually one of his favourite subjects, that was of course until he had started college. He didn't have anything against Mr Clapton, it's just that everything about him exuded blandness. From the way he spoke, to the way he taught just made him want to claw his eyes out with boredom. He would just have to grit his teeth and bear it.
As the lesson droned on, Nathan's mind began to wander. How did he get these powers? He knew for a fact that he didn't have them before. Having something as useful as telepathy would have been something he abused the fuck out of. So many missed social queues, so many misunderstanding, so many ruined friendships could have been resolved or averted entirely if he had that ability, he surely would have discovered it. From what he gathered so far, it only activated when he felt an intense desire to make his point of view known to someone else. Could it work on more than one person at a time? Probably not, judging by how ill it made him feel after only two uses of his power. He wondered if it would get stronger with time? He remembered watching the movie Chronicle, about how the power got stronger the more they used it, much like a muscle. Granted they had telekinesis not telepathy but he reckoned the two were not so dissimilar. Perhaps he would gain telekinesis if his ability got stronger! He doubted it, but hey, if you are going to dream then dream big.
Maybe that was why his room was a mess. He had received powers after waking up that morning, maybe they were installed or something overnight. A violent outburst just before his power had settled into his body he wondered. He would have to ask his sister about her room at lunch, as well as his theory for finding the mystery girl.
Suddenly jolted out of his daydreaming, he had realised that his peers had started to pack away their notebooks and stationary. He hurriedly began to start dumping his stuff back into his backpack, and as he closed up his blank notebook he noted that this entire situation seemed rather surreal. He recognised that he hadn't been paying proper attention to his teacher, but it seemed like the entire hour and a half had slipped through his fingers like sand. Looking up from his backpack, he caught the stern eye of his tutor, who waved him over. Shit, this was probably about his missing assignments. Usually he managed to quickly exit the classroom, pretending to have not seen his teacher, but this time it was unavoidable. Pretending to not have noticed this time would be clearly be an insult to Mr Clapton's intelligence. Swinging his pack over his shoulder, he hung back from the rest of the class, and made his way over to his teachers desk.
Mr Clapton did not look amused. Nathan knew that one of his signature lectures was incoming, and steeled himself, knowing that he would have to explain why he was held back to his next teacher.
"Look Nathan" Mr Clapton began to drawl, "You really need to pay attention in my class. I get that you don't find english all that interesting but...."
Nathan nodded along with his teacher, providing the standard "Yes sir" and "No sir" answers that were required of him. Perhaps it was just Nathan's incredibly short attention span, but it almost seemed like Mr Clapton had a hypnotic quality to his voice that made him want to nod off. He chuckled to himself, perhaps Mr Clapton had a power too, the ability to put people to sleep with is voice alone. Once his teacher had decided that he had received an appropriate talking to, he decided to let him go. As nathan turned his back to his teacher, he heard a little voice in the back of his head that was identical to his teachers voice.
"Ungrateful little prick. Makes me wonder why I still do this job" echoed around his mind, causing his shoulders to tense up, and causing him to misstep for a second. A childish grin stretched across his features. So he could receive messages as well as send them. Watch out Professor X, I'm coming for you next!
After an uneventful second class, He makes his way to the roof.

Powers!
This probably won't end well...
Follow a cast of characters who wake up one morning to find that they have inexplicably been granted powers! Will they use them for good or evil... or will they just use them to (most likely) get their rocks off!
