To the Bridge

You nod to agree with the Charizard. The two of you did have a plan to carry out and the Arcanine surely came as a huge challenge to overcome. But now that you've succeeded and progressed through such difficulty with the Village Chief, taking care of some minor ferals should be a breeze, right? You make your way out of the building opening without taking another look at the pile the Arcanine lay underneath, hoping that it was **** and wouldn't give another chase.

You follow the armored Charizard through the city streets, hoping to keep close without losing his trail. Several obstacles oppose you along the way, as a feral or two would sprout out to make you its meal, however the two of you with the temporary help of a guard would fend the creatures off. Making your way through crowds of battles, you suddenly encounter a Quagsire soldier fending off an infected Ponyta pinning him to the floor. The flaming horse held his wrists to the ground above him with an open maw, slathering its thick and wormy tongue over his panting face, unable to get out from under the feral. Figuring that no one was around to save him, you quickly begin to lose distance from Ryzer heading closer to the Quagsire's aid. The Charizard glances back, spotting what you were doing almost instantly.

Ryzer calls out to you above the hollering ambiance of the crowded streets, "Lace! Be careful! I know you wish to help out, but our soldiers are trained to take care of these monsters. We have a mission, remember? If those pillars and bridge go out, it could cause the entire structure of the ceiling to crumble, making these rescues all for nothing!" You didn't listen and continue dashing towards your target. Wondering why this particular pair's battle caught your eye, you truly had no clue nor care for it; you were going to save him while you could. His entire head was fully gulping into the horse's maws, shivering his body beneath the infected all before you lunge in with a swipe of your arm. The aura around sends the Ponyta barreling away while releasing the soldier's head from its salivating jaws. The Quagsire lands on his tush with a shocked expression and drool-covered face, surprised that he wasn't sliding down the horse's throat anymore. He peers over to you with wide eyes before instantaneously getting to thank you desperately.

"Th-Th-Thank you....! I....." He struggles to speak out as the Ponyta recuperates and pounces out again towards the Quagsire. The water-type flips around as water bursts from his mouth, striking the flaming horse in its strong burst to be carried away with it into a wall. The soldier flashes a look back to you, nodding some, "Thanks." After the stern statement, he appears to have overcome his shock and heads over to the defeated Ponyta, wetting his lips in the process.

You suddenly see an infected Combusken get tossed to the ground next to you and stomped on its chest by a thick, scaly leg. The Village Chief kicks the chicken away and aggressively looks at you, "Now hurry and come on. I want to help them as much you do, but their duty is to protect these streets for as long as they can." He grabs you by the arm almost painfully for you to get the idea of how serious he was. "Our duty is to take care of those before they take care that bridge. It acts as a large support beam for this entire place, and I'd rather lose a few soldiers dying for their loved ones than everyone getting killed or buried alive." You sling your arm out of the way, not taking the news very well, but he did have a point. It was vital for you to help these citizens and townsfolk here.

The Charizard turns around to show you his back, expanding his wings out as he glances back over his shoulder, pointing at it. "Now climb on. We'll get there a whole lot faster if we fly directly towards it. Try to keep airborne ferals away though because I can't fight with a Lucario holding me down, Plus...." He rubs a hand over his chubby and round belly, "...I'm not the lightest thing to carry either. I'm trusting that you'll protect us both."

It was a lot to handle, but you really couldn't deny him now. You wrap your arms around his long neck and press your body into his, signaling him with, "Ready."

"Hold on tight. This isn't going to be a trouble-free ride." His wings flap down, scattering dust below the two of you and for the ground to begin drifting away. With more struggling but strong flaps, the Charizard managed to keep a good height distance towards the large stone pillars ahead. You finally understood what his warnings were for and spotted that there was an entirely other kind of war above the ground. Flying types and a few psychics were burdened to have to provide aerial defense, Attacking while avoiding hungry ferals bee-lining through the air.

"Heads up!" The Village Chief's deep voice booms next to your head, and by looking up, you spot a shape of a bird far off in the distance but making quick of work of heading directly close to the two of you. The shape slings by extremely and terrifyingly fast past the two of you, almost making a direct hit. Even through the blurry and wind-blinding pace of the creature, you were certain that it was an infected Staraptor. Scanning around, you see the feral again, circling back for another pecking dart.

The Charizard yells out, "Alright Lace, take it out! He's not going to give us up unless another feral eats us." He was right about that. The bird of prey seems to have chosen its intended targets, and there was no way Ryzer could outdo or even match its speed.

1. Keep your distance and launch Aura Spheres at it!

2. Get close to it for a direct attack! *
