Group Project

I rushed over to Lentern Hall where I had to meet up to do a group project for a film class. The teacher liked to surprise us with our groups, so we were only told about where to meet. It was really annoying, but in real life, you never quite know who you might have to work with. Besides, there were at least three others who would be part of it, so even if I got a straggler, it wouldn't be that bad.

"Hey! Sorry I'm late!"

It, in fact, would be that bad. As I entered into the room, something heavy sank into the pit of my stomach. Sitting at the table, idly, were Carmen and Tae, the two biggest slackers in the class. It was just them, no one else there either. I whimpered softly at the sight. This project was going to be worth 20% of my final grade. Why did I have to get stuck with these two?

Carmen was on her phone, mindlessly texting away with fingers faster than quick I wish I could run away. She brushed her cherry blonde hair out of her face as she glanced up towards me. She chuckled and nudged Tae with her elbow. "Check it out, Tae. We've got nothing to worry about. Look who we've got as a groupmate."

"Oh, no way. Easy A," Tae said, leaning back in her chair. She had a wide smirk on her mouth as she closed her eyes.

"First of all, you realize there's going to be someone else coming for the group, right?" I said, setting my bag down, already regretting being a good noodle.

"Yeah, but so what?" Carmen said, turned back to her phone. "We hit the jackpot and got you in our group."

I frowned at the two of them as I pulled out my laptop. "Second, you two have to work with me on this thing. We have to come up with a script and film it out. We're supposed to brainstorm ideas together."

"Then you'll be the brains," Tae said, still leaning back, "And we'll bring the storm."

"You know that's not at all what I was talking about," I said with a grumble. They talk a lot of mad shit for someone with such kissable lips.

Carmen was wearing a turtleneck sweater that clearly looked expensive along with some slim black tights. She had on some bright blue lipstick, which contrasted her paler skin. On the flipside, Tae was rocking a red dress with white polka dots. She had some beautiful knee-high socks that Vanessa would have absolutely gone crazy for with the design and how it showed off the contours of Tae's legs.

Ugh! Stop thinking like that, Maria! You've already got Vanessa, Regina, Summer AND Danna. You need to focus on this project. You can't let these two pull you down.

"So, what kind of genre did we want?" I asked, trying to get them to work with me.

"Whatever as long as it's not stupid and boring," Carmen said. "So, you know, do whatever. I'm sure you got plenty of ideas up there in that head of yours."

"Yeah, you got WAY better ideas that we do, so you go right on ahead while we try coming up with ideas," Tae said, very obviously putting all her responsibilities onto me.

I groaned again, hoping that the other person in our group would hurry up soon. If only there was a way to not make this group project suck.
