As Hawkgirl flew in closer, there was a small yet noticeable weakness in her eyes. She was resisting... You turn around and stopped in midair, then Hawkgirl followed suit.

"Come on, Shayera. Remember that evening in Paris? Cuddling up to me?" Her eyes seemed to reflect anger, frustration. But not at you, you thought.

"I... You..." By the straining sound of her voice, she was trying to fight the ape's influence. You landed as she did right after, standing two feet across from you with both hands on her mace's handle. She struggled to lift it any higher...

"Shayera, please," you pleaded. "Despite your brutish m.o., I know you have a good heart and a keen mind. Think: does serving a talking gorilla really seem right?"

"Grodd..." she groaned out. 'Grodd?' you wondered. 'Is that the gorilla I'm fighting?'

It seemed as though you were breaking through to Shayera, with her fingers loosening around the handle, when all of a sudden... a rhino's bellowing preceded Vixen as she rammed into you! Tackling you into a tree. You groan as you slid down the trunk, glaring up at her as your peripheral vision begins bringing the animal into view. He walks up to you like a gorilla: on all fours, on his knuckles.

"Your pathetic attempts will merit nothing but misery for you," Grodd said. He reached his big, hairy hands at your head, which you figured that he would use them to squeeze your head like a melon, so you formed a teleport medieval helmet. You smirked as his hands disappeared right into it, both coming out the other way. He wiggled his fingers to make sure they were his, and then he quickly took one out and grabbed your leg angrily. "Your mockeries have earned your ****!"

He threw you against another tree, and you were starting to feel football injuries you never even had! As you groan some more and the girls approach, you needed a plan; if you were going to break Grodd's control, you thought, then you need to buy time and defeat him.
