As Lex reached for the peppermint doorknob, a new quest popped up. As it did, she let out a soft squeak. Her heart felt like it was about to leap out of her chest. Her hands quivered lightly from the shock. She took in a few slow breaths, trying to regain her composure while thinking. "Good lord. Are you trying to scare me, Gaia?" At that moment, a new exclamation flashed that she allowed to pop up.

Lex thought about how she could come in ready for a fight as she mentally hit, 'Accept'. She wasn't even sure where they were in this building. That was when she remembered that the glasses she was wearing, Evelyn's Peepers not only allowed her to see nudity, but hormone trails and heat signatures too. She hadn't realized that the nudity setting had been turned off earlier. Now that she was thinking about it, that effect stopped on her way to the mall. However, she wasn't sure what caused it.

Lex thought about it a short while before shaking her head rapidly and thought. 'Ugh, this is so frustrating. Why can't I remember!?' When she stopped, she heard something softly click into place near her right lens. This was accompanied by several thin trails of smoke appearing in mid air. Several of these trails were pink, but there was also two red ones. Interestingly enough, they all led towards the right of the room. This caused her to scratched the back of her head.

Although this was obviously where Lex needed to go. She was rather uncertain about the path she was about to take. She lifted her right hand up to her glasses and slid her pointer finger along the upper ridge of her right lens then down along its elbow until she heard yet another click. A mere second later, her vision changed from seeing thin smoke trails to heat signatures. She smiled, feeling rather proud of herself for figuring out how to change the settings for these glasses, but blinked several times when she saw three heat signatures were in the other room.

Lex could clearly see one was sitting while the other two were standing nearby. However, when she looked back to the room she was about to enter, her eyes widened in shock. She could see two heat signatures awaiting her in the dark room, one in the back right and the other to the front right of the room. She hadn't expected this to be easy, but this seemed a little ridiculous. Perhaps this is what the kidnapper had in mind all along? With this in mind, she decided to use Observe on the two awaiting in the darkness.

Lex read all of that carefully and swallowed. It would certainly be dangerous to enter that room without a plan. She opened her inventory and pulled out her Mother Earth's Quarterstaff. This increased her damage by 100% and increased her health and mana regen by 2 per minute. Although these two should be easy for her to take out, that was only true if you only took their stats into consideration. Sadly, reality would not be so kind. From the sound of things, they were likely far more experienced in combat. If she didn't take this seriously and gave it all she had. There was a good chance she would lose.

Lex cast A.I. Mechanoid and selected the option: Tank, Merona while cycling through her glasses settings to turn off its special features. - 60 Mp A small blue portal appeared to Lex's side, followed by Merona stepping out. As expected, Merona's portrait, health, and mana bar appeared below Lex's. Unlike before, Merona's light blue eyes were more active and showed more self awareness than she had previously shown. To Lex's surprise, Merona's clothing had updated slightly. Although she still wore a black leather mid thigh dress, gloves, black stockings and black thigh high heeled boots. All of her items sported a small silver trim.

Lex smiled to Merona. "I like what you've done to your outfit, Merona." Merona bowed her head slightly to Lex and smiled. "Thank you, mistress. Dr. Linda Kimble felt it would be prudent to make some choices for myself while awaiting your call." She twirled once before bringing her hands to the hem of her dress and curtsied to Lex. "I am glad it is to your liking." Lex felt an odd sense of pride when she saw how much Merona had improved while away. However, this also brought into question what all she could have missed within that very same amount of time. Had she truly given life to her creations? Was there a way she could bring her creations to this reality permanently?

Sadly, these were questions for another day. As a tear rolled down Lex's cheek, she lifted a hand to Merona's cheek and caressed it. "I would like to hear more about it later, but right now. I need your assistance. There are two foes within this room that I need to circumvent or overcome. I need to get into the room to our right." She said, moving her hand from Merona's cheek to point into the dark room ahead. Merona's eyes watched the tear upon Lex's cheek for a couple of seconds before turning her attention to the dark room. "Hm? Oh, I see. Which would you prefer to be done? I can see an alternative route to your objective, but I believe they will attack even if we avoid them."

Lex nodded before looking down for a moment. "You're right. I will need you to rush in and attack the woman inside first. It is unlikely that the paladin will be much of a threat without her to deal damage to us." Merona didn't say anything more as she kicked open the door and dashed in. They both heard two distinct voices.

Alexander: "Divine Light!" As he spoke, the room filled with light, blinding Lex for a second. However, this didn't seem to affect Merona.

Tanila: "Oh shit. She's not.."

Right after Alexander cast Divine Light, Merona turned toward Tanila and cast Charge. - 5 Mp To Lex, who couldn't see very well, this looked like Merona vanished. A mere second later, Merona's knee hit Tanila's chin with a hard thunk against the wall behind her. 30 x .5 = 15 damage, 30 damage Luckily the attack was so abrupt that it knocked Tanila out cold. This was followed by Tanila's body slumping to the floor with a thud.

When Lex's vision returned, Merona had fully turned around and cast Charge again, charging right at Alexander. - 5 Mp Alexander lifted up his left arm as a silvery white shield unfolded from a ring upon his hand. A mere second later, it was almost the same height as he was, and just as wide. This allowed him to successfully block Merona's attack. By this time, Tanila was starting to get up. However, what was surprising was Tanila's health was regenerating. This was quite strange. Sure, it made sense that others could regenerate, but what could be the cause? It was at this moment that Lex realized that Divine Light was the likely culprit. This changed things drastically.

Sadly, if they didn't take out that paladin quickly. This battle could go on for a very long time. While Lex had been thinking, Tanila had finished chanting. "I willingly surrender myself to your will. Grace me with your strength so I may vanquish my foes. Ancient Empowerment: Dragonkin!" Within that moment, Lex could see Tanila's mid thigh long golden blonde white hair turn a silvery white and her soft green eyes turned icy blue and dragonlike. The most surprising change was to Tanila's skin. It changed from being silky smooth to scaly. Before Lex could move, Tanila took in a breath and let out a cone of frost, hitting Lex for 35 damage. - 35 Hp

Lex felt a cold sting throughout her body, but she rushed in to use her quarterstaff to try and hit Tanila. First aiming for her head, next her left leg then up to her chin, but to no avail. Tanila easily dodged all of her attacks like she could see them coming a mile away. As this went on, Merona was starting to make a dent in Alexander's shield. However, that was when Alexander moved his shield to the side, quickly striking her left side hard with a golden mace with spikes for 70 damage. It had a two foot long metal handle with a black leather hilt that was just long enough to cover where his hand was gripping it.

Alexander grinned, but found out quickly that this was a mistake. Merona had grabbed his mace and pulled it from his hand before turning to use it against him. As he was pulled foward, she used this opportunity to hit the back of his head. This mace added an extra 15 damage to her strikes, but hitting the back of his head added a critical hit, sending him straight to the floor. 30 + 15 = 45, 45 x 2 = 90 damage, 25 damage The sound of something cracking and clanging was heard when his face and shield hit the floor.

While Tanila continued to dodge Lex's strikes, she started to chant once more. "Gaia, hear my call. Allow this child to..urk!" Lex turned and used her quarterstaff to send herself forward, using her knee to hit Tanila's stomach, knocking the air out of her. 117 + 100% = 234 damage Tanila smiled while blood dripped from her lips. Without skipping a beat, she used her left elbow to hit Lex for 55 damage, causing her to stagger backwards. - 55 Hp Lex's hands began to quiver from both excitement and fear. This was how a fight was supposed to feel.

Meanwhile, Merona wasn't allowing Alexander to stand back up, using that mace over and over to pummel him. 30 + 15 = 45, 45 x 4 = 180 damage He grabbed her ankle and pulled it to the side, making her body shake, but he wasn't expecting her to be as heavy as she was. "Holy shit, how heavy are you woman?" She glared at him while using the mace to hit the back of his neck hard, hitting a weak point. "That's none of your business." 30 + 15 = 45, 45 + 50% = 67.5, 67.5 x 2 = 135 damage

Just as they were about to knock out their foes, an unexpected female's voice filled the room. "Cease this **** at once. You've proven your point, Lex and unknown guest." Merona looked to Lex for confirmation. Lex nodded slightly. "Are you going to hand over Bianca?" There was a short pause before giggling filled the room. "Oh? Finally showing some concern for her? Good." There was another pause before that voice continued to speak. "I'll tell you what. Since I like you, we can discuss this in person." A door began to slowly creek open, allowing access to the next room. While that voice spoke, Merona had hit Alexander lightly one last time with that mace in between his shoulder blades before dropping it by his face. 30 + 15 = 45, 45 - 50% = 23 (22.5) damage At that moment, the optional section of her quest marked itself as complete.

Tanila looked over toward the door and began to grumble. Lex could barely make out the words, "I could still fight." from her lips. Even though Tanila was still eager to fight, she walked over to Alexander to help him up before walking out of that room. Oddly enough, they went out the door to the left side rather than toward the door that had just opened. When they left the room, the light that been illuminating the room exploded when Alexander left, dealing 100 damage to both Lex and Merona. - 100 Hp Leaving a small ray of light emanating from the recently opened door.

Lex glared at the door that Alexander and Tanila had left from. Surprisingly, just as she started to turn away, that room's light turned on, taking hold of her attention once again. However, the reasoning behind it was unexpectedly childish. Tanila stuck her head back into the room and stuck out her tongue at Lex. "You're not bad for a human. Next time we fight, I won't go easy on you. That's a promise!" Her F score ticked up to 5 before she disappeared back into that room, followed by the light turning off.

Lex shook her head before chuckling and thought. 'Well, that was far more childish than I would have expected from a High Elf.' Merona stepped closer to Lex. "What is so funny, mistress?" Lex smiled, glancing to Merona before looking back to the door that had just opened. "Her reaction was quite unexpected. That is what makes it funny." Merona tilted her head. "Oh?" She looked down then to Lex. "Binary!" Lex looked at Merona in disbelief before they both started to laugh.

As they laughed, Lex began to wonder how things would go from here on out. She made a really good first impression according to her quest, but was that truly enough? Or were there still more trials ahead?
