Chapter 4 by Rubberfoot Rubberfoot

What does Alex do next?

Wait until the evening

With a shrug, Alex just went back to his dorm and tried to keep his mind off tonight by playing some games. It was hopeless, he knew. The question of what had happened to Kyle was still burning in his mind. At the same time he wondered if he should take Julie's advice and just let it go. Shaking his head, he put those ideas to rest. Kyle was his best friend and he needed to know if he was alright or he needed help. Maybe he had fallen to **** or was going through depression. A poor friend Alex would make if he just left Kyle alone.

He left his dorm the moment the sun set, trying his best to avoid women as he walked over to the girls' dormitory. Even though it was called a dormitory, it was more of housing complex, where each student would have what was in reality a small home. The houses were arranged in a square formation, with the center being a courtyard with a pool and lounge chairs. It used to be abandoned private housing until the mayor decided to renovate it and give it to the female students. The men had complained at first that the women got such great dormitories while they were stuck in common dorms but their complaints were easily ignored. Now that Alex remembered, the student council removed all male students from their positions after that. How could he forget such a thing?

There was one problem with accessing the dorms. It was all surrounded by a wall, with only one entrance that required digital fingerprints. Without Yuki's help, he wouldn't be able to enter. He just hoped that no other students raised objections because of this. Kyle had apparently spent the last week in there, so the rules must not have been heavily enforced.

As he was going around the walls towards the entrance, he managed to see a part of the wall that wasn't as well maintained as the others. Enough for him to be able to climb the wall and enter the dorms without having to deal with the gate. He kept it at the back of his mind as he reached the entrance.

Yuki was already there, waiting for him. He kept out of sight for the time being and thought about what to do. If he did get in, he could very well be trapped. Despite Yuki being fairly stoic, could he really trust her? Why would he even help him in the first place? They had talked several times but not enough to call themselves friends. Even if he could trust her, what about the other students? The changes he had been noticing had been getting worse and worse every day and alarms were ringing in his head as he got closer to the gate.

Alex stopped to make a choice. Should he trust Yuki and go with her, or should he sneak in by himself?

Yuki or sneaking?
