Do you stay or do you go?
Stay for dinner
You decide to stay for a little longer, and in no time you're sitting down for dinner as Rebecca brings out steaks for the three of you along with mashed potatoes and three tall glasses of wine. You top your steak with a smattering of sautéed mushrooms and onions, but before you start eating, Rebecca has raised her glass in a toast. You pick up your wine glass as well, waiting for Rebecca to speak.
"To seeing friends after a long time apart. Hopefully my cooking doesn't isolate him even further."
"Cheers!" Allen and you laugh and clink all three glasses together, and begin your meal. You dig in and despite Rebecca joking about her subpar skills in the kitchen, she has cooked your steak a perfect medium-rare, just how you like it. The wine complements it perfectly, and you know without Carrie opening you up to the wide variety of wines, you wouldn't appreciate this meal as much.
What proceeds is about ten minutes of catching up. You ask each other how work is, complement each other on your work outs, before the true draw of the dinner comes up: your girlfriend Carrie.
"So," Rebecca prods. She has always maintained a curiosity about your love life, though you could never figure out why. Prior to Carrie you had a string of short lived relationships rarely passing over two months in length. It felt like a revolving door of sorts, and you never realized how aimless your romantic pursuits were. "Tell me about this Carrie. And why we haven't met her yet."
"Well," You say, putting down your fork and steak knife. "We've been dating a little over three months and its progressed wonderfully. In fact, just this week we said that we love each other. I also gave her a key to my apartment as well."
Allen and Rebecca's reactions couldn't be more different. While your tale seems to warm Rebecca's heart, causing her to clasp hands together and give a gentle smile, Allen slaps the table, points at you, and says through a grin, "I know what that means. That means the sex is fucking great."
"Allen!" Rebecca gasps out, scandalized.
"I mean, Allen isn't completely wrong." Allen claps his hands once in victory. "The sex is great. That's not why I love her though," you say, dampening Allen's excitement momentarily. "I love her because we have similar goals in life. And when she wants something, she dedicates all her energy to accomplishing it. I truly admire that, and I've never felt so in sync with someone before. And starting with this last week, I honestly can't imagine living the rest of my life without her."
"Well, it certainly sounds like we need to meet her. We'll have to get a double date on the books. How does next weekend work for you?" Rebecca asks.
You gulp involuntarily at the mention of a double date, thinking back to the previous time you had one that led to your first threesome. "I believe I'm leaving town next weekend to go and meet her parents. And it's probably time that she meets my parents as well, so that might book up the weekend after."
"Hmm.." Rebecca had the tendency to think out loud back in college, and it appears that the habit hasn't gone away since then. "I suppose that we'll have to settle for a weekday. Do you know when Carrie is free? No, you probably don't have her exact schedule. Tell you what. Just tell me her last name and I'll message her on social media."
"Uh, it's Miller."
Rebecca grabs her phone from the counter and quickly navigates to her social media, where she exclaims, "Oh wow. Good job John. She's absolutely gorgeous." Rebecca clearly has seen a picture of Carrie, and approves of her.
"Let me see," Allen says as he scoots his chair over. "Oh damn. She is smoking, John. Great pull by you."
"Thanks," you say, blushing.
"I see we have the same taste in women, though. Tall, brunette, and busty. I definitely approve." Both you and Rebecca blush at that, and Rebecca gives a half-hearted punch which Allen effortlessly dodges. "So," Allen says, continuing, "Tell us the juicy stuff. What's the kinkiest act you two have done together?"
Allen dodges another swipe from Rebecca, and by this point the three of you have finished with your dinner so you push your plate back and relax in your chair. You check your watch and see that it's getting late, so you should probably go soon. You finish your wine with a deep swig, and state to your two friends, "All right. Each of you gets a question about Carrie that I'll answer to the best of my ability. No matter how personal, I'll do my best. Allen, you first."
"I'll stick with my initial question. What's the kinkiest sexual act the two of you have done?"
"A threesome with her friend earlier this week." You decide to protect Natalie's identity somewhat by not telling your two friends that it was Carrie's best friend, in case they met down the road.
"My man." Allen gets up and actually hugs you in admiration. "That's the dream right there honey." He turns to you, "That's the one thing Rebecca and I haven't done yet."
"And we aren't going to," Rebecca snaps right at Allen.
"I know honey, and I, like, respect your wishes. But you have to know that it's every guys fantasy. Right, John?"
"It was my first threesome and I enjoyed it very much," you say, trying to be diplomatic. Not wanting to dwell on this uncomfortable subject, you shift the conversation ahead. "What about you, Rebecca. What's the one question you want to ask me about Carrie?"
"Why haven't you brought Carrie to see us yet? It's been three months, and usually we meet your girlfriends after just a few weeks. If she means so much to you, why haven't you made sure that all four of us have spent time together?"
Shit. You can't exactly state your real reasons, of which are two. At the start of the relationship, you were worried that Carrie might notice your crush on Rebecca, and seeing that you had a crush on someone else, ditch you. Now, you were worried that she would want to disrupt the marriage of your best friend in pursuit of a threesome. Was there anything right you could say here?
"I was worried about what would happen if you met each other. If something between her and you two went poorly, I'm not sure I could handle the fallout. There is nothing I want more than harmony between us." Rebecca nods, satisfied with your answer. You let on the anxious breath that you don't even realize you were holding.
Not much more happens to you for the rest of your visit. Rebecca manages to guilt you into taking home leftovers, Allen gives you a bear hug, happy to finally see you again. You all promise to each other that you'll spend time together soon, this time with Carrie. And soon, you're off back to your house.
The trip is mildly annoying, as the sunset keeps getting in your eyes. Eventually you arrive at your apartment, heading inside. As you step up to unlock the door, you don't hear the familiar click. Did you forgot to lock it before you left this morning? You don't think so, but it was entirely possible. You carefully enter your apartment and are startled by a sound, coming from your bedroom. There's an intruder in here. You grab a chair and approach your bedroom, hoping to sneak up on them. You open the door quickly and see the intruder right in front of you.
Who is the intruder?
