He decides not to alter Alicia.

"So you can change her?" he asked the voice.

"Of course, just let me know how you want her altered."

John looked at Alicia. She was cute, and he realized that normally he would have jumped at the opportunity to go out with someone like her.

"Is something wrong?" Alicia asked, her eyes looking down, then up at him. "If you're too busy, well I can look around by myself."

Realizing she must be interpreting his lack of response as **** to take her out, "No, I was just trying to think of where would be the best place to go for dinner. Uh, do you have any clothes that are more ... more... "

"Dressy, is that what you mean?" Alicia laughed. "Yes, I do, in my suitcase, in Betty Patzik's room, that's where I'm staying."

"Good, why don't you change and I'll meet you there in about ten minutes, then I'll take you to the best restaurant in town."

"Are you sure you can afford it?" she asked. "I don't want to put you out."

"You can afford anything," the voice said.

"Don't worry, I can afford it. Nothing's too good for Eli's sister," he laughed.

Eli looked from John to his sister, then back at John. "Glad to see you two getting on together. Now I've gotta get back to work or you'll have to find a new roommate," he said turning back to his books.

"I'd better go. See you in about ten minutes," Alicia said. "You know where Betty's room is?" He told her he did, and then she was gone.

"Do you wish me to alter her appearance?" the voice asked.

John sat down on his bed and thought for a second. "Well, she's pretty cute, and she is Eli's sister, so I think I'll just leave her as she is. If I decide later I want her changed, can you do that, and no one will notice?"

"Yes, it will be as though her altered appearance was normal. You have decided you do not want to alter her appearance for now, is that correct?" the voice asked.

"Yeah, that's it."

"Would you like her personality altered?"

"No, I want to leave that as it is for now too, but with the option of changing her later if I want."

After the voice repeated John's order, John changed into his best slacks with a nice shirt and sports jacket. He said so long to Eli, who answered with a grunt, and walked down the corridor to Betty Patzik's room for his date with Alicia.
