Scaling this up
Well after her encounter with the customer, their words seemed to hang in Linda's head. Try as she might to push them out, they always seemed to come back.
Would that be even possible though? She was a woman in Iraq. Even if she was able to get the business started, who would she market too?
"يغيب؟ (Miss?)"
Looking up from the photo of Sammi and her, Linda found herself facing down a woman. Dressed in a black long dress with a burka. Gloves covered her hands, not a spot of skin visible.
"نعم؟ (Yes?)" Linda answered and watched the woman sit down. The seamstress wasn't sure what it was about the woman, but they seemed... different. She wasn't sure how long she had been in this country, but she was more than certain that this woman was new.
"تصنع أجمل الثياب. سمعت من حولي أن هناك مسلمة (I heard around that there is a muslim woman who makes the most beautiful garments.)" the woman answered, Linda's cheeks glowing red under her veils.
"نعم. (Yes.)" Linda answered, almost certain she had seen the woman light up from her burka. A strange sight, one that got her heart beating just a bit faster. For some reason, she stood up and motioned for the woman to follow.
What followed was something both sinful and yet... fulfilling. Linda wasn't completely sure what had overcame her. But looking back now, it was the right call.
