Any luck?
Final burst
She was panting, she was no longer breathing air but what felt like tar, the air almost not wanting to go down her throat and fill her lungs. The pressing feeling sparking a mild headache in her. Anara had to get this done, only one layer protected her from what felt as excruciating pain if that's what she was feeling with the last bubble of protection.
She wasn't sure if the pressure got to the tiny creatures she had scouring for information from the book from her, but what she got was almost nonsense. She found phrases about 'Tears in the fabric in concentrations of Arcane Energy' that didn't make much sense, there were no concentrations of arcane energy in the plane of existence, as soon as arcane energy flowed into reality it transferred into something else, either a spell or a manipulation.
Next -almost- random passages were about the bending of fabrics, of folding sheets of papers and about building imaginary tunnels, Anara could not make anything from this. Her eyes filled with horror as she could see the book losing it's glow, information stopped pouring into her mind from her knowledge slaves, they were dying. 'No, not now, I only have a couple of pages left!' she yelled in her head, screaming against the grogginess she started to experience.
She tore through the pages, finding nothing, nothing of use, continued babble about building tunnels and how miners gauged their distance and direction while deep underground in complete darkness. She started to frantically open up different sections of the book, reading the page in haste just hoping to find something. That's when she heard the cracking noise.
With almost a disbelief she watched the final protective layer crack, small fragments shedding away to disappear in the void. With the quick halt of breath clarity came to Anara's mind, she had to do inventory of all she knew, just one last attempt before she completely fails.
Teleportation was connected to her ability to use telekinesis. No! to her ability to manipulate objects and forces, when she used telekinesis she was influencing the object itself, influencing the energies in it. Teleportation was linked to how Arcane Energy influenced the fabric of reality, how concentrated amounts of arcane energy warped the universe at those points. The teleportation and mana connection eluded her, but it was safe to assert that using some kind of teleportation is how mana is being cultivated, maybe siphoned through a gateway of some kind Anara wondered, still it wouldn't explain the 'Beast'. Then the information about Arcane Energy punching through the fabric of reality and the building of tunnels.
Her stupidity shocked her almost like the immense pain that accompanied the shattering of the final protective layer. There was no spell, no ready formula, the only way to teleport is to manipulate the fabric of reality, exactly what she's doing when she manipulated gravity. She began to plummet towards the ground, the shock of pain must've made her stop influencing her own gravity, she could also see herself, making her no longer invisible.
She wanted to hurl, the pain wasn't like anything she had ever experienced, like billions of tiny steel rods pushing directly into her brain, her entire skin on fire and organs wishing to burst out. She wanted to carve her own eyes out by how painful they felt, her only comfort is that it will soon end. The library's ceiling was high, enough to break a person's neck if they fell from that height, exactly what she was counting on at that moment. The stupid quest for knowledge, the moronic notion she would be the one to discover teleportation, the idiotic 'Fuck you geezers I am better' attitude she had, none of this had any importance anymore, she just wanted the pain to be gone.
Somewhere at the back of her mind, some stubborn part of Anara's personality, defiant till the last moment, woke up. Mere inches from the ground it shouted "Idiot bitch!" and everything went to black.
