Mrs. Thorne

Looking to the right I saw Mrs. Thorne from across the street standing with a smile, "Well come on girls , you all look so nice today we have to take your picture". I only stood there and smiled a little awkwardly at her so Liz took charge and brought me over to where our mom and aunt stood.

Despite the show I'd given the last time I saw her, this time I somehow managed to keep covered. Then, after sending the pictures she'd just taken to Liz's phone, she asked for one of her own. "Come here Jazmine, I simply need to have a picture with my kitchen helper " she grinned, "I don't know what I'll do if I need to host while you're gone".

Feeling touched I approached her for a little hug, and instead felt my feet leave the ground. The breeze I felt on my cheeks left no doubt what I was showing off because of this hug. When my feet touched down again I didn't get a moment to see what was showing because my mom and aunt took that moment to make sure I knew how happy they were for my help too.

I was suddenly lifted into the air by these three grown women, swinging me around like a doll. and no doubt showing the little I had on to drivers passing by on the street. A honk and a whistle from what looked like two college guys only proved my point.

Finally, pictures, hugs and goodbyes were over and done with and we all got into the car. Mom and Aunt Jen in the front and Liz and I in the back seat, with our travel bags in the back.

We pulled out of the driveway and finally got our journey started. The miles passed listening to pop songs and eating snacks from the bag we packed, until games on my phone were no longer enough to keep me occupied and I decided to take a nap.

Liz was surprisingly feeling the same and so we lowered the back seats of the SUV until they laid flat like a bed. The warm feeling of the sun on my skin and the slight breeze from the partially lowered windows sent me right off to sleep.
