Press the emergency stop button.

"What the fuck are you doing?" Sara yells after you punch the emergency stop button. She lunges forward to press the 2nd floor button but you block the panel with your body.

"Just give me a couple minutes to talk to you!" you demand over the ringing emergency alarm.

"Aren't you late for your date?" she snaps, vainly trying to push you out of the way.

"Why are you so angry at me?" you ask.

"I'm not angry at you!" she fumes.

"Your all caps text says otherwise."

She squints her eyes while glaring at you. "Fine, I'm angry at you."

"Why are you angry that I'm going on a dinner date with Lisa?"

"Because you're going to fuck her," she answers, looking down at her feet to avoid your eyes.

"How's that different from the other night?" you ask.

She pauses before looking up at you. "We were just all having fun together," she replies quietly, barely audible over the annoying ringing. "But this is a date... so soon after your break up." She pauses before continuing, "I don't want to see you get hurt again..."

You turn around and hit the second floor button to stop the emergency ringing and resume the elevator car. "We're friends... albeit with special benefits and I would never do anything to ruin our friendship," you explain, just as the elevator door opens. "I can cancel the dinner date if you want me to."
