She sees through him

"Nice try," Mrs. Fellers said when she got her giggles under control. "I was almost ready to believe you really were that big a jerk."

He tried to scowl. He'd committed to the mastery thing and wasn't ready to give it up yet.

"Give it up," she said with another giggle, almost as if she'd been reading his mind. "I'm not stupid with horniness any more and I can see that you're a decent young man."

"A decent young man who's running a porn empire?" he demanded.

She nodded seriously. "Yeah, we've got to take a look at that. With the way you dress, your 'empire'," she made air-quotes around the word empire, "can't really be rolling in the dough."

"What's wrong with the way I dress?" He'd gone all-out for the exhibition wearing his best suit.

"Did you buy that at Good Will? First, it doesn't fit. Second, it's a cheap suit. And third, it's ten years out of style."

He'd always thought suits were something you didn't have to worry style about.

"Anyway," she continued, "we can deal with the clothes. But you need to build a business where you can actually afford to buy your own clothes. And..." she winked at him, "take a girl out on a date."

The mental image of having Wendy open the door when he showed up to take Mrs. Fellers on a date imprinted itself on his mind. _Awkward _might be the best word to describe the situation. Then again, once Mrs. Fellers figured out who he really was, he suspected there weren't going to be any dates.

"I have a couple of hours," she continued. "Let's take a look at the numbers and see what we can do."

"Sure," he said. "Let me give my partner a call and we can meet up at a Starbucks or something and go over what we've been making."

She shook her head. "We'll go to to your studio. I need to see the facilities to know what we've got to work with."
