Chapter 7 by Orlog4 Orlog4

What do you answer her?

The future

“I … I'm having a few thoughts about the future,” you say carefully, “I thought about it a lot last time. Do you… have any plans for yours.”

“Oh, that's a… difficult topic,” Jenny mumbles, “but to be honest I try to avoid thinking about my future. I have good grades and hope to one day work as a personal trainer. If that's doesn't work out I would try working in an office. How about you?”

“I would like to work at a research and development department of a technical company,” you answer, “But I meant our future. We've been a couple since middle school and I love you. I want our relationship to last as long as possible but you never want to do anything beyond 5pm and the last time I was in your room was in elementary school.”

“I still have the plush unicorn,” Jenny tells you and laughs shyly, “but I know what you mean. I sometimes forget how patient you've been and I don't know if I could ever be a good girlfriend for you. Sometimes … sometimes I think you deserve better than me.”

“Because you never have time in the evening?” you ask carefully, “I don't want anyone better than you, but if you would just tell me about it we could find a solution.”

“That's part of the problem,” Jenny agrees, “right now I'm looking for a job after college to pay for a small apartment. But even then there are… things that make a future complicated, especially a future with you. I don't want you to leave, I love you and every moment we spend together. I don't know if this would work out. I don't know what is best for us.”

“What's best for us is not that important,” you say and let your head rest again, “the most important question is: What do you want?”

“You know what I want right now?” Jenny asks after a moment, “Water. I want to get my bikini wet and cuddle with you in the lake. What do you say?”

“I say: why are we still ate the lakeside?” you answer and jump up, “I'll put picnic in my pack. Wait for me in the lake, if you are not afraid of water, kitty!”

“I'm not a cat,” Jenny says smiling, “never call me a cat again! I hunt cats.”

“You hunt cats?” you ask laughing, “how's that?”

“I'm a wild predator,” Jenny answers and runs into the lake before you can say anything else.
