Not well

That night wasn’t half as sexy as I was expecting. Olivia didn’t do a damn thing to me, she just laid down and went to sleep, zipped up tight in her sleeping bag.

The next morning, we drove back to the houses, and Emma kept glancing at me sneakily, like she had last night. When the Garcia car parked, I glanced at my sister, Daniela, and she gave me a smile.

I walked up to her and hugged her firmly, and she laughed and hugged me back.

“Thanks, Jaime.” Daniela smiled, moving away from me. I headed into my house, and went up to my room. I found my phone on my bed, with 36 texts from Marianna Upton, the bitch Seth had set me up with. She sucked, though. I decided there and then we were done. I blocked her number.

There was a knock, and I turned. Mom opened the door, her child with Seth leading the way. She sat on my bed, and I sat beside her.

“We need to talk, Jaime. You seem so much unhappier since I married Seth.” Mom said, and put her hand on my shoulder.

“Well, it’s weird, you know? Marrying my best friend.” I huffed. Mom showed off her tattoo.

“Seth owns me, sweetie. He wanted to get married, so we got married.” Mom shrugged.

“Do you love him?” I demanded. She blinked, and took a minute to gather her thoughts.

“Why are you asking me this?” she said, her voice tight.

“I just want to know if you got married because he owns you or did you marry him because you love him?” I asked. Mom blinked.

“I married him because he told me to, dammit.” she exploded.

“So you don’t love him.” I summed up. She shook her head.

“No. He’s a revolting pervert who put his baby in me against my will.” Mom said, nostrils flaring. I reached out and pulled Mom close to my chest, rubbing her back.

“Thank you, Jaime.” Mom sniffled, and I looked down at her beautiful face, and I leaned in for a soft kiss. Our lips met gingerly, her hand brushing across my face.

“Elena!” Seth’s voice called, and suddenly the real Mom disappeared to that fake Mom who Seth created with that tattoo. She hurried away from me, and to Seth. Angry, hurt, and seriously confused about my own feelings, I flung myself backwards onto my bed.
