Where do you want to investigate?
The Kitchen
"Let's start in the kitchen, where Kevin and Laura were taken from." You tell Prentiss.
She nods and follows you into the kitchen. Once you are there, you immediately see clear signs of a struggle. There is a door to the back yard, which is swung open. Several cooking utensils are strewn throughout the room, and it looks like a tornado blew through.
Prentiss squints at the scene. "Well, this certainly is a mess. Let's act this out, see if we can determine what exactly happened here."
She steps over to the counter and observes the remains of the meal that Kevin and Laura were likely preparing the night they were taken. She begins miming like she is preparing food.
"Okay, so I'm Laura. I'm here at the counter with my boyfriend. I can see out the window, but I can't see you." She says.
You start to catch on. "And if I'm the unsub, that means I'm hiding somewhere outside where I can stalk you through the window without being seen." You step into the doorway.
Prentiss nods and continues what she is doing. "Alright, so just when I least expect it, you break down the door, which causes me and my boyfriend to drop everything on the floor or counter."
You walk swiftly towards her. "Alright, so now I'm taking down your boyfriend first, because I see him as more of a threat. From the debris, it looks like the struggle led into the living room. Once I've succeeded, I set my sights on you." You turn to Emily.
"There's some of Laura's blood on the stairs, so she probably ran upstairs for some reason, probably to lock herself in her room." She begins to walk up the stairs, observing evidence as she goes.
You follow her closely all the way to Laura's bedroom. "CSI found prints on the door knob lock, but they're not Laura's and they're not in CODIS, so they belong to the unsub. He must've locked the door from the inside, but why?"
Prentiss looks around, contemplating. "If I'm Laura, I came up here because I feel safe here. This is where I want to hunker down and call nine-one-one."
Your eyes widen in realization. "Neighbors reported a high pitched screaming for about an hour. That doesn't sound like an efficient abduction. Unless..."
