Go to court

As you arrive at the Grand Court, you see that the usual courtiers aren't there. Instead, your father's most trusted advisor waits for you beside the empty throne. You immediately know the reason for this and follow the advisor to meet your father in confidence.

Inside his chamber, you see your old, sickening father laying in his bed. Taking his hand, you kneel by his side and listen.

"I am getting old, the toll court takes on me is taxing. I am still able to hold on, but my time is coming. As of now, you must begin to take your own responsibilities. Our people enjoy prosperity but they want more prestige. We cannot grow complacent. Gather the support of the generals and the people and choose your campaign." He mutters to you.

"Of course father, your wish is my command. However, I must discuss the Hue family and their sentence with you. They are-" He cuts you off

"I know they were innocent. However, their enemies were too numerous and too powerful for me to contest it. I couldn't openly tell you, but I knowingly placed their daughter in close proximity to you in hopes that you would find out. Their family is invaluable in their loyalty, treat the girl right and repair the bridge I burnt. You will be everything I wasn't and restore justice and root out the rot from this great empire."

He dismisses you with a wave of his hand and you are led out of the chamber.
