Not-So-Subtle Clues

I opened the door of the restaurant, and Venus gave me a warm smile as I followed her swaying hips inside the building.

“Swann.” she told the hostess, a teen boy who gave me a thumbs up. I struggled to hide my smirk as we were led to our table, in a secluded little alcove.

“Your waitress will be right with you.” we were told, and left alone. Venus reached across the table and grabbed my hand, squeezing it.

“Thank you for dinner. Really, it’s nice to get out of the house for once.” she smiled sweetly. I squeezed her hand back.

“Not a problem, Venus.” I smiled back. She pulled her hand back as the waitress walked up.

“Anything to drink?” she asked.

“I’d love a bottle of wine.” I said confidently. She raised her eyebrows.

“You 21, kid?” she said disbelievingly.

“Yes, I am.” I said.

“Fine. Enjoy your date.” she rolled her eyes.

“Oh, it’s not, ah, doesn’t matter.” Venus called after the waitress. She turned to me, and I reached across the table and grabbed both of her hands.

“I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself.” I said earnestly. Venus blushed.

“So, I get the impression Dan’s not the best husband?” I prompted. Venus rubbed her thumbs against the backs of my hands.

“No, he’s not. We got married because of Zara. But he barely shows any interest in me, and always smells flowery when he gets back from work, so I’m fairly sure he’s cheating.” Venus sighed. Then she blushed.

“Sorry, I’m sure you don’t want to hear about my love life.” Venus laughed awkwardly.

“I do, actually.” I said seriously. She blinked, then smiled.

“Well, then. I just wish Dan even pretended to like me. We sleep in the same bed, and he gropes my, well, doesn’t take a genius to figure out what he gropes. I feel like he thinks I’m his plaything. He uses me and tosses me aside. I haven’t gotten cock since we got married.” Venus lamented.

“I can’t believe that. A gorgeous woman like you hasn’t gotten laid in, what, 20 years? That’s insane.” I shook my head. Venus smiled slightly.

“You think I’m gorgeous?” she asked shyly.

“Of course I do. You are beautiful, and so so sexy.” I reassured her. She blushed hard.

“Stop! You’re making me blush.” she giggled. I grinned, and she smiled back warmly. We were both leaning in, I realized abruptly, and just as the sexual tension was building, the waitress walks up and plops down a bottle of wine. The moment ruined, Venus pulled back sharply.

I walked out of the restaurant with Venus. Dinner had been amazing, but it had gotten awkward after our failed kiss. Considering my options, I turned to Venus, and pulled her body close to me, and kissed her.
