"Who are you?" asked Dr. Joan Watson as she stared up at the redheaded figure that had just saved her from total public nakedness.
The figure was dressed in a cowboy outfit -- oops, a cowgirl outfit -- and held a silver six-shooter. As Joan and the former wolf-lady stared at her, she tipped her cowgirl hat and said, "I beg your pardon, ma'am. My name is Yosemite Tam -- the best shot on this side of the Pecos."
"Er, excuse me, Miss Tam," said Joan, "but isn't the Pecos River on the other side of the Atlantic?"
"So?" asked Yosemite Tam.
"Well, I'm grateful for your intervention," said Joan. "I really am. Now if you can see clear to help me find some clothing or at least help me get back safely to my sleeping compartment --"
"Hold on a minute," said the former wolf-lady who had been chasing Joan in the form of a bestial creature -- and now was rapidly returning to normal human form. "I don't recall giving you permission to interrupt us."
"I don't need permission," said Yosemite Tam. "The expression on the Chinese girl's face as she was running was permission enough."
"Actually I'm not Chinese," said Joan. "I'm English."
"Sure you are," said Yosemite Tam. "Anyway, it seemed obvious to me that you were in trouble. So I took it upon myself to intervene."
"Well, now that all that has been settled," said the former wolf-lady, "I think I'll go settle in for the night."
"Wait a minute," said Yosemite Tam. "Where do you think you're going?"
"To sleep, of course," said the former wolf-lady. "Why is that any of your business?"
"How do I know that you won't transform again and try to strip another damsel like the Chinese girl?" asked Yosemite Tam.
"You don't," said the former wolf-lady. "Now if you'll excuse me..."
"You ain't going anywhere, little lady," said Yosemite Tam, aiming a gun at the former wolf-lady.
"Little?" asked the former wolf-lady. "I'm taller than the both of you."
"It's a figure of speech, ma'am," said Yosemite Tam.
"Ma'am?" asked the former wolf-lady. "Now you've gone too far. I've been called many things but never ma'am."
"Well, get used to it, 'ma'am'," said Yosemite Tam.
"Ahem," said Joan. "About my clothes?"
"Oh, stop interrupting whoever you are," said the former wolf-lady. "If you wanted to keep your clothes on that badly, you would have run faster."
