A New Vessel

Admiral Quinn began again. "Captain, I'll level with you. We've had some tough times before us. Not to mention the tensions in the galaxy ahead of us. I need capable leaders on the front lines and I believe you to be one of the best Starfleet has to offer in these troubling times." He frowned, "Despite your young age, I believe you to be what we need right now. Cowboy diplomacy and the drive to do what needs to be done."

Quinn reached down to his desk and picked up a PADD, tapping a few buttons on the small screen before passing it over to Pierce's smaller hands. "This PADD has instructions for your next mission. Additionally, I know that you do not have a ship currently. Which is why I am assigning you to the USS Endeavor, NCC-1895-A. She's a good ship and will do you well. The ship is part of a new class, the Endeavor class. It's a modernized Constitution class vessel with all the technology and weaponry that you can need on this Heavy Cruiser. She's also a bit bigger than those of that day too equipped with Holographic technology and Holo-emitters for the newly installed EMH."

"Wow...so is this vessel class named after..." Pierce paused truly in awe at this.

"It is Captain. With each class, we try to focus on the goals and ideals the Federation was founded on. We're charged with remembering the great explorations and sacrifices therein." He paused, "Wasn't your Great-Grandfather the Captain of the U.S.S. Endeavor?"

Pierce smirked, knowing full well that she was that man so long ago. "Actually sir, he was. I appreciate your giving me the legacy and mantle to remember him each and every day."

"Great! Then without further ado Captain, I present to you orders to report to the USS Endeavor. I have your senior staff waiting on hand for you there." He reached forward, shaking the Captain's hand. "Good luck out there."

She shook his hand and nodded before turning and heading out to the corridor once more on her way to the Shuttle bay. 'Today is turning out to not be half bad,' she thought.
