Not until after a press conference

At noon the next day, Matt's lawyer arrived with a stack of paper. "Okay, you're out."

"Huh? Did I make bail or something?"

"No bail. I've committed to making you available if necessary. Why? You planning on running?"

"Of courses not. But... but they didn't question me."

"Yeah, once you lawyered up, they weren't much interested. Come on, I'll take you home."

"What about our streaming?"

"I haven't gotten the cops to release your camera equipment yet. So looks like that's not happening."

"But are we forbidden to do it?"

"It might be a good idea to stop for a while. Much though I'd enjoy seeing more of Mrs. Phuan in the all-together."

Matt couldn't fault the lawyer for that. He enjoyed seeing Mrs. Phaun in the all-together as well. But if they failed to continue their show, they weren't going to be able to pay the rent and all of this was for nothing.

"I'm working on getting your camera equipment released but they'll probably hold onto it for at least a few weeks. Judges in California have to get re-elected which means that they're not going to be in a hurry to buck the cops when the cops tell them they have a child porn case on their hands."

"Crap."

"It's okay, son. You're out of jail. That's a big deal."

It wasn't okay. Especially when the lawyer handed Matt his phone. "I recorded the Sheriff's press conference an hour ago. Check it out."

Matt would have been ashamed to stream anything with that piss-poor quality but sure enough, the L.A. County Sheriff was up on a podium blathering about breaking up a child porn ring, rooting out the evils of center-city values reaching into the pure youth of The Hill, and generally making the world safe from creeps like Matt.

"So they're going to keep harassing me," Matt guessed.

"I'm trying to injunct them from harassment but, again, judges defer to the cops when it comes to child porn."

"Crap."

"Yeah, okay. Anyway, unless your really do start bringing in kids, you're safe from jail for a while, at least."

That was less reassuring than he probably had intended it to be.
