Chapter 8 by floppy15
What do I see? Is it Cassie? Dana? Beth?
Cassie is in trouble
A tall guy is standing next to Cassie. For several seconds I observe them and Cassie doesn't seem to like the attention. Just as I am about to turn back to Josh, the guy grabs Cassie's arm. In a heartbeat I'm on my feet and on my way across the room. The one thing I hate most are guys who don't know when to stop. In the past a few dudes who had been more than pushy with Mia had learned their lesson. As I walk towards them Cassie smiles at me.
“Cassie, why don't you come with me?” I ask in a serious tone of voice. Cassie nods and makes a step towards me, but the guy doesn't seem to get the message and pulls her back. I clench my fist and try to stay calm.
“She is leaving.” I tell him as I step right next to him. He has a few inches on me and is pretty muscular, but I doubt that means much in this neighborhood. The one thing I've learned in the fights I've been in is, that motivation and skills can make up for size. He slowly lets go of her hand. Cassie quickly steps behind me and grabs my hand.
“Let's go.” she says to me and pulls me after her. Just as I turn around I see the guy throwing a punch at me. Because he waited for me to turn around I don't have enough time to dodge his fist and he hits my chin. The **** of the blow lets me stumble backwards, but I'm able to stay on my feet. That was quite a blow. It takes me a second to recover from that hit and I massage my jaw. Cassie and the whole room looks at me in shock. The only thing you can hear is the music.
“You're a real nice guy. You don't know when a girl wants to be left alone and you even punch like one.” I tell him with a wide smile. I give Cassie a nod and start to walk away again. I know the type of guy and am secretly hoping he'll try again. I am ready when the next fist comes flying towards me. With this advantage I can avoid his punch by simply stepping aside. When his fist hits nothing than air I take a hold of his arm with my right hand as I turn my body and drill my left elbow into his stomach. Then I let go of his arm and just as he slumps down I land a punch right on his jaw. His head flies to the side and he's loosing his balance. A moment later he hits the ground. I shake my hand to get rid of the pain. To my surprise my opponent is knocked out cold. Most fights are unnecessary, but I'm glad I did what I did as I look at Cassie. A relieved smile lights up her face.
After that the party is over for me. Not quite the first impression I wanted to make. On the way back Cassie doesn't say a word. After she unlocks the door she turns around and looks at me.
“I'm sorry.” she simply says with a sad look in her eyes. “This was the first time you met people from your school and I ruined it.” Unable to look me in the eyes she looks at the ground.
“Don't worry. I would have gotten in a fight soon anyway.” I try to reassure her and gently lift her head back up. Her beautiful eyes are filled with tears. “This way it was about something important.” I add and make her smile. Without a word she slings her arms around me and rests her head on my chest. I let my hands run over her back, pulling her closer into me. After a minute she lets go of me.
“Thank you.” she whispers, wiping away the last few tears, just before she goes inside.
Do we talk about it? Does anybody else hear about it?
