Manon jumped out at her, giving her best horror movie wail, and despite herself Marinette couldn't help the squeal that escaped her lips or how she reflexively jumped back, heart racing. A moment later, the sounds of self-satisfied laughter brought her back to her senses.
Between bursts of laughter, Manon managed to **** some words out. "I-I-I scared your pants off!" Her uproarious laughter returning as soon as she said it. Marinette's eyes dropped down, spied her bare legs and her panties on full display. She had momentarily forgotten how she was dressed. Her head hurriedly looked all around her, a flash of panic going through her. When she still didn't see anyone, she let out a sigh of relief, but her stomach was in knots.
"Come on, Manon, let's go inside," she said, leading the way to the bakery door. The girl followed her, still laughing. Marinette's cheeks burned. Was it really that funny? She grasped the door handle and pulled. It didn't budge. Her eyes went wide. She pulled again. It still didn't move. She tried again and again. Panic rising with each unsuccessful attempt. She knew exactly what just happened. She didn't unlock the door when she came down... so when she let go and it closed... she locked herself out! Entering full-blown panic mode, Marinette kept trying the door, her heart racing. She even went so far as to plant one of her bare feet against the nearby wall that framed the doorway to help her get more leverage against the door. She pulled with all her might. It didn't do anything. She dropped to her feet, huffing and puffing. No, no, no, no, this can't be happening! She was locked out like this. She didn't have her phone or her keys or anything on her person - she hadn't had anywhere to put them... which meant she was stuck outside until her parents came back from their date, whenever that would be. A sense of dread settled in her stomach.
