Chapter 36 by tailteller

Perspective Shift:

Helping Hands

This was better, right? Mathematically speaking, it was. He's silly. That show-off way of mixing these would never really be random...still. He's looking at her like a child. Is this skill expected of them? These creatures become stranger every day. He sighed and moved behind her, helping her organize the cards into a block again. She couldn't deny the lust that faded into being on her arms and face at the feeling of his breath on her neck, his hands over hers.

"Let me help."

Whatever you say. Her mind clouded over, being so close. If she relaxed her neck...no. Not happening. She was testing when he slept, that's all. She shook her head, paying closer attention to where he placed her fingers and how he had her shifting the cards. They tickled a little against her palms when they did that flashy ruffle. That series of notes from earlier came from his chambers. That box was asking for him again. He ignored it, so she chose to do the same.

Then the main door to his home began to open. They shared a look of panic, and she scrambled to get out from between his warm arms. Fear waved across her spine, and she tried to quickly make her way to the water.

Who's at the door? Does Aurora make it in time?
