Chapter 5
by whoablabla
How many cards does Marcus flip over?
Two.
Marcus figures he might as well push his luck; he flips over two cards.
The first one reads:
Would you rather: Have a permanent boner that never goes away and never gets tired, or never wear underwear again?
The second one reads:
Would you rather: Double the money in your bank account--but also double your libido, or convert 10% of your intelligence into 15 pounds of solid muscle?
Marcus breathes a sigh of relief. Both questions are pretty easy to answer. A perma-boner would be a nightmare, especially if his cock starts growing as much as promised by the Wheel of Inches. He'd much rather just freeball it everywhere he went. And, while Marcus is actually really smart already--like, smart enough that he probably wouldn't miss the loss of a bit of his IQ--what he really needs is some quick cash. After losing all the money in the last game, Marcus is pretty focused on his budget.
He speaks, "I'll take the not wearing underwear thing and the doubling my money one."
Instantly, Marcus feels warm and a little horned up. His cock plumps up ever so slightly, and a drop of pre oozes out from his cockslit to dangle like a little string from his now half-chubbed dong. It feels good.
The voice speaks again, "Aha! That was easy, Marcus. Perhaps you'd care to push your luck? Try another card?"
Marcus hesitates. His hand hovers over another card. Surely one more won't hurt? After all the bad luck of that last game, surely he's got a little good luck left to rely on? Right?
He takes a deep breath and flips one more card over. It reads:
Would you rather: Age 30 years and gain $10 million, or become 5 years younger but lose every cent you have?
"Fuck."
Marcus is pissed. Either choice he makes, he's completely screwed.
Sure, it'd be great to have ten million dollars but not at the expense of three decades of life... not if it meant his 25th birthday became his 55th!
And yeah, he'd felt like the last three years of his life had been wasted in Texas but without any money, it would be years before he could ever leave. With all that medical debt, and with no way of selling the house, he'd probably be stuck there forever. And, that option completely erases the money from the previous card. Shit!
"Yeah, never mind. I don't want to choose. I'll just stop at two cards, thanks."
The announcer voice laughs mockingly. "Too late now. Choose. Or I'll choose for you!"
Marcus sighs. "Uh, 5 years younger I guess..."
The prospect of being stuck in Texas weighs heavily on Marcus's mind. He's looking kind of glum, and the announcer notices.
"Marcus, my boy! Why so blue? The Game is supposed to be fun."
"I just wasn't ready to lose so much, I guess," Marcus replies.
"It sounds like you ought to play one more round. What do you say?"

Making Marcus
A Game of Choice and Chance
On his twenty-fifth birthday, Marcus is suddenly presented with the opportunity to engage life in a completely new way. One could say that he becomes awakened to the game of life. What comes next is up to him, but will he be ready for the consequences?
