Chapter 11 by JoshNeeson_007
Is “Alice” able to escape while getting ready for the tea party?
No
Batgirl tries to move her arms out of the grip of the Tweedles but they are surprisingly strong, and when she tries to kick at them they barely budge. With nothing of her old costume and gadgets but her mask she is left almost totally useless. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum are usually men that work for the Joker, and now that Batgirl is closer to them she can tell by the look in their eye that they are not all there. They are silently obeying every order Tetch gives without question. Because she is unable to break free from the Tweedles’ grip she is left suspended in the air by her arms with everything on display. With this realization her face begins to become flushed. “Come Tweedles, let us go prepare our guest!” Tetch commands, walking out of the room.
When Batgirl is carried out of the seemingly normal room, she is now in a much more fantastical world that resembles something out of the Lewis Carol novels that Tetch’s psychosis is based around. The Hatter walks over to a small hut that appears to be made of a giant mushroom and soon they are inside. Like the previous room this room appears much more like a room inside a normal building, though unlike the other room there is nothing in here except one thing, a metal tub filled with water and a couple buckets of paint, all different colors.
“We figured you might want to get ready so we came prepared, you see. Didn’t want you to have to get ready at home because then I believe you would flee” he explains. Before Batgirl can say anything in response Tetch quickly orders the two Tweedles around again, but this time an order she really wishes he had not made. “Take off her mask” he tells them.
“What? No!” Batgirl yells, “you can’t!”
“But Alice, there’s no need to hide anymore, it’s me.”
Each Tweedle grabs an ear each from her cowl then they pull from either side, ripping it from the middle. The mask is ripped off of her leaving her now with nothing of her old costume, now she is completely exposed and she does not even have a mask to hide behind. “Ah yes I see now” Tetch says when he sees her face. Barbara’s heart drops, thinking that he might know who she is, but instead he says “you are Alice, I can tell. I thought you were, but it’s good to know for sure.”
Barbara sighs in relief. Because of his insanity he can’t even see past his own delusions, all he sees is Alice. It’s a small comfort, but it’s the only one she has.
“Now Alice we shall fix the problem with your hair” Tetch tells her, turning and grabbinf something from behind him.
“Wait d-“ but as she is protesting it is already too late. Jervis Tetch pours an entire bucket of yellow paint over Barbara’s head. She closes her eyes and mouth as the yellow liquid covers her entire head and then starts to go down her entire body.
“Oh my dear Alice, we got it all over you!” Tetch says apologetically. “Tweedles, put her in the tub and clean her.”
