A final exam as a monster hunter

You are a monster hunter. It is your job to hunt monsters who are a threat to society. Since all kinds of creatures are included in human society this brach changed a lot. When a lamina, a lizardman or any other intelligent kind of non-human commits a crime, the authorities maybe put a bounty on his head. It is the same for humans, elves and dwarfs. But there are also more animalic monsters in the world. They attack merchants, occupy fields and mines and sometimes they even attack villages when they are hungry. Both authorities and civilians can contract a monster hunter to get rid of them. You are trained to hunt, capture or in the worst case kill monsters and non-humans who break the law.

Your trainer was an elven woman called Valeria the huntress. She is the best monster hunter you could imagine. She trained you and a groop of other students to fight monsters in every environment. In the hot desert, under water or in stony mountains. You started in a groop of 20 Students and only five took it to an end. All others left their strict trainer and looked for other jobs. Well hunting monsters isn't the ideal work for everyone. And today is your final exam. You were sent alone in this area to take care of a unknown creature who steals the sheeps of a nearby farmer. It is up to you how you proceed. When the job is done you pass the test and are finally a real monster hunter.

Despite your young age you are very strong and skilled. And you are well prepared. All equipment you maybe need is in your backpack. And you are already in the mountains where your client has his farm. So your next step is to find the monster you hunt. You are not sure what is is, but monsters Living in the mountains often hide in caves. You also heared that Valeria once killed a giant snake who had it's nest in an abandoned temple.

After hours of searching you find what you searched. There is a big, dark hole in the rock face. You light a torch and carefully take a step in the cave. It is very dark and deeper than you thought. You are not sure if it would be such a great idea to follow your prey in it's lair. Maybe there is another way.
