Confess

“Hey, how are you feeling?” You ask Melody. She appears to be sleeping but you can’t tell because you are tired yourself. Her hand motions continue, so you know she is awake.

“I’m feeling much better. My fever is gone, and I don’t feel like shit anymore. At least physically, I don’t!” She says. She looks down and sighs. You figure now is as good a time as any.

“I know your heart is in the dumps right now. I wish there was something more I could do or say to help, but right now, there is only one thing I can think of. It’s taken me awhile, a real long while to say this: I love you Melody!!!” You feel a hundred pounds lighter once you confess your secret.

“Wh…What?” She says. She slowly lifts her head up to meet your eyes. The second she looks at you, you move is to kiss her. She doesn’t have time to think as your lips meet hers. You kiss her gently, but with enough feeling to let her know that you are genuine. A subtle moan escapes her mouth. You pull back to give her time to think and react.

“Are you okay?” You ask her. You can see tears welling up in her eyes.

“How long have you felt this way about me Jack?” She asks as she wipes her tears away.

“Probably since Freshman year.” You tell her.

“You’ve kept this secret for two years!” She answers back.

“Of High School!!!” You finish. She blushes as you lean in to kiss her again. This time, you allow your tongue to venture from your mouth. Melody allows it into her mouth. She slowly massages it with her own tongue. You don’t yet know if she is reciprocating your feelings or if she is just appreciating what you are trying to do for her. Regardless, this kiss lasts a bit longer than your first. It ends when you run out of air. You look deeply into Melody’s eyes again, trying to read them. A few minutes go by when she finally speaks.
