The Date Begins

Andrew was stunned! As he once again tried to walk in his pink heels, Brian was guiding him forward, around the fountain and in the direction of the restaurant.

This was not what he expected. Sympathy, laughter... even rejection he would have understood, but instead, Brian had totally gone with the notion that he had done this for him.

"You look good," Brain said, smiling.

"Err, thanks," through Andrew's embarrassment, part of him noticed that his friend did seem happier. "You look good too!"

"That's polite of you to say..." Brian shook his head still smiling. In fairness, he was dressed pretty casual, though seemed to appreciate the compliment. "So... are we going to pretend we've just met and I've no idea who you are or.... how should we do this?"

"Ummm," Andrew thought hard. He hadn't agreed to any of this. It was insane, dressing up as a girl and going on a date with his best friend. But at the same time... He'd been wanting Brian to start dating for a while, he'd been wanting Brian to be happier and more confident. Was a "role playing" date really the worst idea? Looking at Brian, he already seemed more happy and assured, he didn't want to break that. How could he? "Well, we do know eachother so, it's silly to pretend we don't... let's just pretend we've known eachother casually for a while... but this is definitely our first date."

"Sounds good to me," Brain replied. With that he reached out to take Andrew's hand. After a moment of hesitation, Andrew took it.

Just one date, Andrew thought, he understand. Just to give him some confidence, and things will go better after that.
