Druuna thought about it for a little while, and decided that it was better to be careful than it was to be rich. She left the radio where it was and continued on through the woods for the rest of the day.

The trees began to get thicker away from the coast and Druuna noticed that the pathway was getting more and more overgrown with plants and shrubs. Eventually Druuna came to a spot where the road had been destroyed by a flooded river cutting a steep ravine through the land. She couldn’t climb down, and the river looked too fast to cross, so Druuna decided to follow the stream until she found a shallow spot or a bridge to cross it with. She did this for several hours.

With the sun beginning to set Druuna spotted something in the distance. Upon closer observation, Druuna saw that it was a bridge. Happy to have finally found a way across the ravine, Druuna ran to cross it. When she was halfway across she heard someone yell “Stop!” to her. Wary of anybody out in the woods, Druuna placed one of her hands in the pocket of her shorts that contained her large knife and turned around.

At the end of the bridge stood two filthy men in stained clothing. One of them held a crude bow and the other held a large wooden baseball bat with several nasty looking nails attached to it. At the sight of Druuna the bowman grinned and licked his lips. The other man smiled in a nasty way and said “Alright lady, listen up. This here bridge belongs to me and Benjamin here and it ain’t free. You got to pay a fee to cross the bridge.”
Druuna, clutching the knife in her pocket, nodded and said “A-Alright. I have money, how much is it?”
The bowman, apparently named Benjamin, giggled and said “All you got, bitch!”
The other man laughed too and said “He’s right, we’ll take everything you got on you. Now strip, unless you want an arrow through your leg. A dirty slut like you shouldn’t be walking around in such nice clothes anyway.”
