Chapter 5 by Burkboi Burkboi

Choose a path.

Training on the outskirts of Brightmoon

Adora was in the grounds outside Bright Moon, Shadow fencing in a secluded patch of trees by herself.

She thrust and sliced at the air, walk back and forth as she blocked invisible blows from her imaginary opponent. Her Horde training had prepared her for a lot, though it hadn't really covered sword-wielding and so in **** need of some practice.

Especially so when said sword was magical in nature. She hesitated, then tried to focus. She'd used more magical properties of this sword before. Maybe...

Adora held the sword above her head as if to transform into She-Ra, but instead, she swung the blade downward ecstatic to see an arcing flare of bright, rainbow energy shoot out from the blade.

"Yes!" Adora Smiled.

She glanced around. Okay, it was a bit disappointing she was alone, that would have been a cool thing to show off later.

If she could do it consistently. She still didn't have total control of the sword, and the last time she practiced with this kind of thing, she'd turned a normal horse into Swiftwind. To most people, it would have been amazing to have a flying talking horse as a loyal mount for Adora it was just annoying.

Deep breaths. She lunged forward into a charge however her foot smack into an exposed root throwing off her balance and causing the kickback from the blast she summoned throw Adora flat on her ass.

Wincing, Adora picked herself up to try again. She raised the sword above her head, summoned up everything she could and thrust. The gem set into the hilt of the sword flashed brightly, and energy ripped out of it, a shimmering rainbow of colors emanating from it. Rather than travel out in front of her like she'd expected, it instead exploded out in all directions

Adora staggered back against a tree, closing her eyes to shield them from the brightness.

After a few moments, she opened her eyes. Carefully she put her sword down, spearing it into the ground. as she rested

That was a lot of energy. Especially from her sword, it always seemed like it had consequences, especially when it was uncontrolled. Frowning, she looked around, only to freeze as she realized what she'd done.
