Chapter 3 by ewong ewong

*WHO* are you?

Mary Lomnocht

[Forgive the first two parts, as they set up this world before the main character(s) end up screwing things up. You can skip to the 3rd chapter to get to the fun hijinks]

Mary is a senior in high school, and has a crush on her best friend Jenny Baird. She hopes her all female band, The Nips, can make a breakout hit or perform at the school's upcoming dance. She is a bit unmotivated lately, but her friend, an older, eccentric woman, keeps her on her toes. However, she usually ends up inconveniencing Mary at inopportune moments with some crazy experiment. It interferes with her homework, but the pursuit of science and hijinks keep her from walking away from this oddly charming individual.

This morning, Mary arrived at her friend, Doctor "Doc" Emma Green's home. The Doc always kept a spare key under her doormat so Mary could let herself in whenever she wanted.

"Doc, you home?" The girl asked as she stepped inside.

She slid her backpack off her shoulder and placed it by the door, closing it. She placed her skateboard (her main mode of transportation other than when her parents let her drive the car) against the wall and wandered in further. Not seeing any sign of her friend, she shrugged and walked into the living room, flipping a few switches, and seeing a massive speaker power up. She picked up an electric guitar from its usual resting place on a shelf. Plugging it in, she heard the familiar hum and dialed the volume up for maximum output. Readying her guitar pick, she took a deep breath before strumming a power chord. However, instead of the expected screeching wail, the speaker overloaded!

POOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!

Mary felt the large blast of pressure from the explosion, knocking her off her feet. As she fell back onto her backside, she noticed scraps of fabric surrounding her, and when the ringing left her ears, she looked at herself. Her long brown hair was disheveled (well, more than normal) but her top was shredded, exposing her black bra underneath. Her ripped Jean's had become denim hot pants that threatened to expose her backside. She was at least thankful she still had her prized black leather jacket on.

"Whoa..." she sighed.

Ka-plunk

She watched as the blown speaker crumbled apart even more.

"Rock and roll?" She breathed, weakly throwing up the devil horns hand gesture.

RING-RING
RING-RING
RING-RING

Mary recognized her ringtone and vibration in her backpack, and ran over to it. Seeing it was Doc calling her, she answered.

"Doc! Where are you? You left all your equipment on..." Mary said, trying to make an excuse for her using the amplifier.

"That reminds me! Be sure not to hook up your guitar to the amplifier. There's a strong chance of overload!" Doc instructed.

"Uh, thanks. I'll keep that in mind..." Mary said, seeing the mess she made.

"I have a favor to ask you. Can you come out to Twin Peaks Mall tonight at 1:15am? Its imperative you bring your smart device with you." Doc said.

"Oh yeah. I'll be there. Hey, where's your cat? I didn't see Aretha anywhere." Mary asked.

"Oh, she's right here with me. I've been terribly busy, so I had to bring here here to help with my experiment. Remember, 1:15am Twin Peaks Mall!"

"Got it, Doc."

Suddenly, several timers went off, ringing and beeping around the entire home.

"Is that my timers ringing?" Doc asked.

"Uh, yeah. Sounds like all of them are going off."

"Ha! My experiment worked. All my timers are synched to Bountiful Hills High School's tardy bell!"

"You mean its 8:15?!"

"Precisely!"

"Dammit, Doc! I'm late for school!"

Mary hung up and grabbed her backpack, slinging it over her shoulder and taking her skateboard before going out the door she quickly started skating and left the driveway, heading down the street. She zipped up her jacket, but still showcased some cleavage since her jacket's neckline dipped a bit low on her chest. She grabbed onto the back of a jeep and hitched a ride until she got close enough to the school, where she saw her friend Jenny waiting there.

"Jenny! You didn't have to wait."

"I was worried. My record is clean, but this means three tardies in a row for you. If Strickland catches you..."

Mary smiled, looking at how worried her friend was. Her Auburn locks framed her face as her large green eyes almost begged you to stare into them. She wore a pink turtleneck with a white collared blouse underneath, and a pair of black low rise skinny jeans. A combination of modest and fun.

"Yeah, sorry. It wasn't my fault. The Doc had this experiment..."

Anyone interrupt them?
