Jade woke up.
At first, she wondered why she woke up so suddenly, disoriented from her sleep. When, it hit her.
It was the honk from Jason’s van outside.
“Doesn’t that guy sleep?” Jade muttered under her breath, checking the time on her phone before glaring ruefully outside. (For the record, it was 12am. Jason was nothing if not punctual.) “Fuck...better get down there.”
Jade was dressed like she was yesterday night; a tank top with pajama bottoms. Well, if it worked yesterday, then it’ll work today as well, Jade thought as she headed outside.
Unlike yesterday, however, Jade was outside the van, leaning against the door. His face lit up in a cheeky grin when he saw Jade, as if he’d played a good prank on her.
“Hey, Jade. What’cha doing here?” Jason queried.
“What’re you talking about? You wanted me here, bastard, so here I am! Interrupting my sleep like a good-for-nothing...” Jade trailed off, struggling to keep her voice down.
“That’s the thing...when did I call you down here?”
“WHAT?” Jade couldn’t contain her shock, and instantly clapped a hand to her mouth after she shouted. Hopefully none of the neighbors heard...
“All I did was honk the horn. Did I ask you to come down here? Nope. Did I send you a message telling you to get your ass here? Nope. As far as I’m concerned, it was your decision to come down here.”
Jade was furious. She’d been baited!
“For the record, I’d have actually left if you didn’t respond. But, hey, since you’re here, I have an idea...”
