For Days Vicky Vale tries to find Infos about the mysterious Car. Can Don Toretto help her?

Chapter 15 by Colleem Colleem

Since Saturday she had tried to find out something and now it was already Monday. And again, no luck.

Vicky Vale stepped disappointed into the car that her new driver had parked in front of the building. He could see immediately that this conversation had not gone very well.

"Everything OK, boss?" he asked curiously and started the car. While the two of them slowly drove through the streets of Gotham, Vicky opened her laptop and looked at the calendar entries. For 3 days now, she had been on a wild scavenger hunt through Gotham. She had talked to several so-called experts and is trying to find out more about this vehicle. However, none of them have been able to help her. Most of them even refused to acknowledge the existence of the so-called Dragula.

"Shit would be bragging. Please drive me to Wayne Tower! Maybe Mr. Fox knows something."

"Who?"

"Whoa! Bill. Where do you live? Fox is the CEO of Wayne Enterprise. He's one of Gotham's foremost experts in applied science, and has a Ph.D. In physics and metallurgy. He's also considered one of the smartest people in Gotham. This guy's a genius. Maybe he knows something."

"Well then. I'll be waiting in the car again, I suppose?"

"You can learn, can't you?" she laughed.

Half an hour later she sat in Fox's office and showed him the pictures. While he watched the pictures and the videos that had not been officially aired, Vicky was silent. She looked around in the big office and could see some pictures of Fox. On some of them you could see him next to Bruce or Thomas Wayne. Others showed him next to the late Stephen Hawkings. Both were old friends and had often worked together.

After he had studied the videos carefully he nodded to her and told her that this video was extraordinary. He would need time to study it, but he also told her that this vehicle should not exist in theory.

So, she went back to the car after 2 hours without new findings.

"I'm starting to know that face, boss!" Bill said and drove back on the main road.

"Damn. I'm running out of sources."

"If I may, I have a suggestion." Said Bill carefully. He knew he was in over his head.

"If you got something, spit it out of Bill."

"I know someone who might be able to help. He's not one of those eggheads, he's more of an... expert on the streets."

"When can I meet this someone?" she asked with a sigh.

"I'm picking you up tonight, boss... I would suggest something a little more... hotter, though. It's more of a party than a meeting."

Towards evening she drove in a tight outfit next to Bill to the outskirts of Gotham. Bill drove a flashy Honda, which should have attracted attention with a neo-green livery, but when they reached their destination Bill's car looked almost prudish. They drove past vehicles that had been seemingly completely rebuilt. Highly polished exhausts, beautiful airbrush pictures and just as many hot women were standing right and left of the road. Hundreds had gathered to be here. She could see a small bus that had been converted into a mobile sound system. The heavy beats could even be felt in the car. Bill seemed to enjoy this company and steered his car right next to a black car. This one seemed almost more inconspicuous than the others. It was a muscle car that was completely black. At the hood stood a muscular, bald man, who wore only a sweatshirt next to jeans. When they got out of the car the man smiled at Bill and hugged him for a long time. Both seemed to know each other well. Only then did he look at Vicky and smile. His voice was deep and although it didn't seem like it, he expressed himself very elegantly.

"Boss, may I introduce... Dom Toretto. Dom. This here is Vicky Vale. I work for her."

"Ah, yes. Right. Heard about you. Nice to meet you!" he said calmly and sat down on the hood of the car. "Well, Bill. Why did you bring a reporter here?" he finally asked. Even if it didn't sound bad, it was clear that this was a hidden accusation.

"Don't worry, Mr. Toretto. I won't mention anything about these races. I'm not here for that." Hurried Vicky to tell, She didn't want Bill to get in trouble over her.

"Hmm. Good. Then tell me why you're here," he asked and seemed satisfied with the answer.

"I'm here because Bill thought you might know about cars."

"Know Cars?" Don laughs and jumps on the hood of his car and raises his hands. " ''Do I know my way around cars,'' he shouted to the crowd that was laughing loudly and cheering him on. Vicky had to grin wide.

"Okay. You must know a lot about cars. Mind if I test your knowledge?" she grinned and put down her laptop. Don watched the video repeatedly and slowly a group gathered around him to talk about the video. Vicky didn't understand everything they were talking about, but she noticed that they were using very different terms than Fox or Nathan Finch. This group talked more about the tires and the sounds the car made.

"Hey, Vicky. Do you have any recordings that haven't been edited?" Don finally asked, and Vicky nodded. One of the guys downloaded the file and went into the trunk of his BMW. There he had a high-end computer system built into the trunk that Vicky could only marvel at. It didn't take long until the original recordings of the chase were connected to the sound bus and you could hear everything about the massive speakers. Vicky could only marvel at how quickly expertise was combined.

"Hey Dom! The sound reminds me of the new booster from Takisha! You know. The 200-horsepower electric motor he has installed in his car!" shouted one Dom when another one shouted.

"Look at the fins! It's almost the same system as mine!"

"Are you nuts, Vaker? That one works while yours is shit!" laughed another.

"Finns?" asked Vicky quietly and Dom explained that with these adjustable fins the contact pressure of the car could be adjusted individually. This resulted in superior driving dynamics.

"The paint job is cool! Looks like Ultimate Black, but the stuff would never stand up to constant fire! Must be something like this!"

"What you're all overlooking is the most important thing." Dom said at the end and everyone was quiet for a moment. "The driver... is good. And I mean... Real... GOOD!" said Dom with a twinkle in his eye. Apparently, he was impressed by this driver and was burning to drive against him.

"Hey Dom! He reminds me a bit of the Red X!" someone suddenly said and immediately there was an approving murmur through the rows.

"What is the Red X?" asked Vicky curiously and one of the riders told her that it was a new, unknown biker. He drove a futuristic looking motorcycle and had won all the last 3 races. But nobody knew who the rider was.

"Bill! We got a lead!" She laughed good-humored
