The intruder's body, mind, and personality are absorbed into Link, as well as that of all her victims.

Surprised, Link watched as the intruder's body was sucked into the seashell, and once it was completely gone, Link understood. The criminal was named Janus, and they had found this item, which allowed them to absorb people and gain their memories, abilities, personality, and the power to turn into them at will. Using this, he had absorbed young women then became them, took all their stuff, and moved on. She gained the memories of Janus as well those of all his victims. Link stared down at the seashell, knowing now she could turn into a female guard, or a stripper, or a noblewoman, or anyone else the criminal had absorbed. She could become them in personality as well, trying out the lives and minds of anyone she wanted. And if she wanted to, she could get more. Part of her, the part of her that was the original Link, told her that this was wrong. She should go to the Princess and turn in the item, so it could never be used again. Become her old self, and walk away form this.

Another part of her, however, didn't like that idea. Why not stay like this? Or become someone else. Anyone she wanted to, really. It sounded...amazing. And if she wanted to, she could become Zelda too. Wracked with indecision, Link pondered her next move.
