Link defeats Morpha and moves on with his quest.

To Link's surprise, the corrupting creature Morpha wasn't a very tough enemy. Through speed, reflexes, and careful use of the Longshot, he was able to defeat the creature and cleanse the temple. It was only then, as the portal opened, that Link wondered who the Sage of Water was. As he stepped into the portal, he felt himself transported to the Sacred Realm, and when there a presence entered his mind.

Power began to course through Link's body, magical power of the kind that Link had never touched before. As it did, knowledge began to leak into his brain. "Princess Ruto is the Sage of Water..." he muttered, understanding. Looking down at himself, he whispered, "I'm the Sage of Water." Link now understood Ruto's destiny, her duties, and her powers. Which, at the moment, were all hers. But Link still had his own duties, he needed to awaken the other sages and defeat Ganondorf. And switch back, whenever possible. The Realm seemed to sense this, and he felt himself transport out, and to Lake Hylia, where his body was waiting for him.

Link frowned at how lazy his body looked at that moment, asleep on the ground, like a commoner. "Body!" he shouted at it, irate. "Up!" With that command, it awoke and rose, staring intently at him. "Call Epona on the ocarina," he said as he handed his body the Ocarina of Time, "And ride me to Kakariko Village, quickly. The Shadow Temple is next, and it's associated with that town, I know that."

His body did as it was told, and within a few hours of uncomfortable and tiring riding, they reached the village as night fell. It began to rain, and Link frowned. This new body did like water, but not as much rain. Especially because it made the ground completely muddy, which was not something a princess should go around stepping in. Luckily, he had an idea. With a smile at the irony, he looked at his body and told it, "Body, carry me to the inn."

With surprising speed, his empty body reached out and grabbed Link, its arms muscular and strong. It held Link in a fireman's carry as they moved through the rain, Link's heart fluttering as he was held close to his own body's well-toned chest, warm and a little sweaty from the ride. He knew he should not be thinking these kinds of thoughts, not about his own body! And yet, Link's mind began to wander about the possibilities this situation presented, of what he could do with this new body he had accidentally acquired.
