Chapter 89 by DangerSloth

The Leap of faith

I closed my eyes as I jumped over the beasts tail.

Remembering the faces of those in the crowd. I could picture Padma, Parvati, Cho Chang, and even Hermione. There were even more watching.

Luna Lovegood, my best friend Michael, my sister Isadora, Professor Flitwick, Aurora. I could not let myself die here.

POP POP

I heard the cry, and the explosion of its strike, and I lept, prepared at any moment to fall into its jaws.

I crashed into the ground. In a most painful and imperfect way. My legs ended above my head, blood fell on my lips, and somehow I felt no egg within my grasp.

My eyes opened, looking around me desperately for only a moment without seeing the egg. My mind shifted to self preservation.

I turned towards the dragon, but its wasn't looking at me at all.

Its eyes were locked on the crowd. But that made no sense. I was in its nest. It should have been looking at me.

I felt around myself, looking once more for the egg, realizing that there were no eggs around me.

And the crowd itself, was completely silent. When I looked to them again, I realized why.

The eggs were now laying in random places of the crowd. And the Mother Dragon had noticed.

Who the Hell would do that?

"Run," Bagman whispered, "everybody run!" Like bugs, the crowd began to scatter. Many body's failing to escape off of the narrow stairwells.

I began to run away. Out of the way of the dragons path. It couldn't make it to the bleachers. It had a chain that kept it within the confines of the ring.

I tripped suddenly, my skull smashing against the ground. By all means, it should have knocked me out. But when I was on the ground coughing blood, crying for my own situation, I saw the broken links of the dragons chain laying at my feet.

"Who did all of this," I cried? Destroying the chain, and moving The Drip Tooths eggs to the stands.

"Help," rang a blood curdling scream. I shifted to my ass, now watching as the Dragon ran at the crowd.

They were all up there. Those that mattered to me. And here I was sitting, and I would have been running too if I had the means. But just the thought of trying to help was making me shake uncontrollably.

"Get a hold of yourself," I said with chattering teeth, "you're a Halfhwit." The words were hollow, and yet I stood up.
