Because his only friend is a pureblood witch he saved who becomes infatuated with him (it’s porn what did you expect) thanks to her he learns about wizarding culture, history and customs, his goal? To do what Grindelwald and Voldemort couldn’t, conquering the Wizarding World and maybe the muggle world too, getting a harem wouldn’t hurt too.
