The three of you start walking our towards the quad. Kathryn seems to be just going with the flow, while Jasmine is pointing out bits of history about the college. You on the other hand are a little weirded out.

Finally curiosity overcomes you as you reach a somewhat secluded picnic area. “So, what’s going on?”

Jasmine turns around, “What do you mean?”

“I mean you sucked me off, then…”

“Oh, yeah that. That’s to point out who we choose.”

“I gathered that, but…”

Kathryn smiles, “I can explain it…”

Jasmine looks at her, “How?”

“My mom and dad went here. They were both chosen too. They explained everything.”

Jasmine laughs, “Alright, family tradition start! You’re the first child of past chosens to get to college.”

“Yeah, my mom got preggers in her senior year. The rest started multiplying later.”

“Uhm, excuse me, confused male right here…” You say.

Kathryn looks to you, and takes your hand, “Sorry. See twenty five years ago the college did a study. They found that people weren’t marrying…”

“Wait, what? We huh?!” You ask, you go to pull your hand away from Kathryn, but she just holds you tighter.

Kathryn is frowning a little now, “Can’t we explain first?” her voice soft.

You go to shoot a quick, sarcastic, hurtful answer when you look into her eyes. Your voice dies for a second, “Okay.”

Jasmine picks it up, “Remember that personality profile you did?”

You nod, though for some reason you can’t get your eyes away from Kathryn’s. Her smile comes back as you stare into her eyes. “Yeah, I remember what does that have to do with this?”

“Well, after running it through the computers, a lot easier nowadays let me tell ya, we get a print out on matching personalities. Then they take the highest percentile in matches and we set them up.”

“Why?”

“Because the study showed that children from loving stable families perform better than ones that aren’t so loving or stable. You would think that would be common sense, but they spent like twenty five million on that research. According to Dean Witherson, we’re twenty for twenty on matches. And Kathryn here is first child to come back.” Jasmine states.

Kathryn nods, “I’m just so glad I got chosen. As Jasmine said they’re twenty for twenty…I hope to be twenty one. I mean my parents talked to me about this when I was thirteen. So…I you know…saved myself.” She still is looking in your eyes, holding your hand. She brings her other hand up to gently rub your arm, the feeling sending shivers down your spine.

Jasmine nods, “That she did.” She licks her lips.

You swallow, “How did they come up with the selection method? I mean…it’s a little forward…not that I’m complaining.”

“It got you to follow me right?” Jasmine says with a wink. “So are you going to give it a go?”

Kathryn says, “I’m willing. Twenty for Twenty.”

You stare at the two for a moment, then take a deep breath.
