Chapter 24 by tailteller

One more trick, or a tumbling tower?

It all comes crashing down.

Resigned to the loss of the treat that sat in the trash, Aurora pouted and pulled out a brick. Predictably, everything remaining fell to the table. Crestfallen, she stood and walked to the kitchen to raid James's fridge for comfort foods. She returned with a handful of eggs and cheese, only to sit down and push the remote at him and chirp.

James and Sally shared a giggle as he turned on another ocean documentary. Sally stood up and spoke first, "Well. Sore loser, I guess. Maybe she'll work up the courage to be honest...maybe you will too."

James cocked an eyebrow, "Sal, it really was-"

"Love ****, right. I believe you...you still slept in the tub with her, you know." She pulled out her keys and sighed. "I'm going home. You two...try to figure this out and tell me? I need to know what to expect when I come over to help 'miss fish' not get herself into trouble when you're gone."

James nodded, now contemplating more seriously the implications of what they'd done last night. It had been terrifying at first, but Sally had a point. When it wore off, he still stuck around. Sally stopped and took the chocolate from the trash, bringing it with her. Aurora shot her a brief look that betrayed her intentions, but quickly snapped her gaze back onto the television with an angry bite of an egg.

When Sally left, things felt suddenly very awkward. James turned and pondered what to do.

How to handle this?
